1 To benefit from this offer, your application must be received and approved by Royal Bank of Canada (“Royal Bank”) between June 16, 2026 and November 18, 2026 (“Offer Period”). This offer only applies to new applications for a WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard.
You will receive up to 30,000 welcome WestJet points upon your first purchase (“Welcome WestJet Points”) distributed as follows: (i) 25,000 Welcome WestJet Points up to six (6) weeks after your first purchase transaction date; and (ii) 5,000 Welcome WestJet Points up to twelve (12) weeks after your first purchase transaction date, provided your first purchase gets posted to your WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard credit card account (“Credit Card Account”) within the first three (3) months of your Credit Card Account opening date (“Period”).
You will receive an additional 30,000 WestJet points (“Additional WestJet Points”) provided a total of $5,000 (“Qualifying Transaction Amount”) or more in qualifying net purchases and/or pre-authorized bill payment transactions (“Qualifying Transaction(s)”) are posted to your Credit Card Account within the Period. The Additional WestJet Points will be awarded approximately six (6) weeks after the date you reach the Qualifying Transaction Amount. Qualifying Transactions exclude cash advances (including balance transfers, cash-like transactions and bill payments that are not pre-authorized charges that you set up with a merchant), interest charges and fees, and credits for returns and adjustments posted to your Credit Card Account during the Period will reduce the amount of your Qualifying Transactions.
The transaction posting date of each Qualifying Transaction, not the transaction date, will determine whether the transaction will count towards the Qualifying Transaction Amount. This means that Qualifying Transactions that take place prior to the last day of the Period will not count towards the Qualifying Transaction Amount if they have not yet been posted or processed by the merchant, the payment network (Mastercard) or Royal Bank by the last day of the Period.
You will receive an additional 10,000 WestJet points (“Anniversary WestJet Points”) up to sixteen (16) weeks after your Credit Card Account has been open for one (1) year.
Welcome WestJet Points, Additional WestJet Points and Anniversary WestJet Points will be awarded to your WestJet Rewards account, accessible at westjet.com/account, and appear on your monthly credit card statement, provided your Credit Card Account is open and in good standing at the time they are awarded to your WestJet Rewards account, “good standing” meaning that your Credit Card Account must not be past due for more than two (2) consecutive Credit Card Account statement periods, closed, charged off or in credit revoked status at that time.
Only the primary cardholder on the Credit Card Account is eligible for this offer. Additional cardholders(s) (co-applicant and authorized user(s)), as well as existing cardholders on any RBC Royal Bank personal credit card account, transferring to a WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard during the Offer Period, are not eligible for this offer.
If you close your Credit Card Account or change it for another type of RBC Royal Bank credit card before the Welcome WestJet points, Additional Welcome WestJet points or the Anniversary WestJet points have been awarded to your WestJet Rewards account, you may not receive the points. This offer may not be combined or used in conjunction with any other offer. Royal Bank and WestJet reserve the right to modify, cancel or withdraw this offer at any time without notice, even after your application has been approved, including if we suspect that you may be manipulating or abusing it, or engaging in any suspicious or fraudulent activity, as determined by us in our sole discretion.

We’ll now look at the main differences between these credit cards in terms of:
The welcome bonus offered by each of these credit cards varies depending on the promotions. However, there are differences to be aware of between the two credit cards.
With this welcome offer for the TD® Aeroplan® Visa Infinite* Card, you can earn up to 50,000 Aeroplan points, with no fee in the first year. Here’s how:
10,000 Aeroplan points after first purchase
15,000 Aeroplan points, if you spend $3,000 within 90 days of account opening
25,000 Aeroplan points when you spend $12,000 within 12 months of account opening
Based on our valuation of Aeroplan points (2 cents per point), this welcome bonus represents an approximate value of $1,000.
70,000 WestJet points in total: 30,000 on your first purchase, 30,000 when you spend $5,000 in the first three months, then 10,000 after your first account anniversary
A travel companion voucher starting at $119 after your first purchase
Plus, get an annual round-trip companion voucher after spending $5,000 on the card.
According to our valuation, one WestJet point is worth 1 cent. Therefore, this welcome offer can be worth up to $700.
In addition, this card includes a rebate on the annual fee in the first year, as well as several travel benefits such as the first checked bag free on eligible Air Canada flights.
According to Milesopedia, Aeroplan points are more valuable than WestJet points.
Redeeming Points
As these two credit cards are part of different loyalty programs, the ways in which points are used are also different!
For Travel
Each month, the Aeroplan points accumulated through the purchases of the TD® Aeroplan® Visa Infinite* Card are automatically credited to the cardholder’s Aeroplan cardholder’s account.
Then, to use Aeroplan points, you need to book your flight on the Air Canada or Air Canada Vacations website. These Aeroplan points allow you to get a cheaper vacation package or an airline ticket with around fifty partners, members of the Star Alliance network, such as:

Earn 1,000 Status Qualifying Miles and 1 Status Qualifying Segment for every $10,000 in net purchases;

Or exchange it for 2 free accesses to WestJet partner airport lounges, a 30% discount on a flight for a solo traveler, or a $200 credit applicable to a WestJet Vacations or Sunwing package;
Link your RBC card to Petro-Points to save 3¢/litre on gas;
Earn 20% more Petro-Points at Petro-Canada;
Get a $500 boost toward higher WestJet Rewards status tiers for every $15,000 in net purchases;
Earn 50 Be Well points per dollar on eligible purchases at Rexall when you pay with the card;
A free 12-month DoorDash DashPass subscription, with unlimited free delivery on orders of $15 or more, when you pay with the card.
WestJet RBC® World Elite Mastercard‡
Both cards are excellent for their wide range of travel benefits, but the WestJet RBC® World Elite Mastercard stands out. Especially for the very advantageous companion voucher to save an average of $500 on a second plane ticket yearly.
For Air Canada travellers, the benefits of Air Canada are to save money and make the annual fee more cost-effective.

Frequently Asked Questions: TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite or WestJet RBC World Elite
Which card offers the best welcome bonus between the TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite and the WestJet RBC?
The WestJet World Elite card now offers the highest bonus in terms of points, at up to 70,000 WestJet points, compared to up to 50,000 Aeroplan points for the TD card. In value, however, the gap reverses in TD's favour: Aeroplan points are worth about 2 cents each for reward flights, putting 50,000 points at around $1,000, while WestJet points are worth about 1 cent each, or about $700 for 70,000 points. The TD card also waives its $139 annual fee for the first year, whereas WestJet charges it right away. In terms of the bonus’s raw value, the TD Aeroplan card is almost twice as rewarding.
Should I choose the WestJet card if I live in Western Canada?
If you live in Calgary, Edmonton, or another hub where WestJet dominates, the WestJet RBC® World Elite Mastercard‡ is more convenient. The annual companion voucher can save $400 to $700 per use on most domestic and transborder flights, and the first checked bag free for up to 8 companions adds a lot of value for families. However, even in Calgary, TD Aeroplan remains competitive because Aeroplan can now be used with all Star Alliance partners, including United and Lufthansa, offering flexibility that WestJet simply cannot match.
Which one offers the best travel insurance coverage?
The TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Card generally offers stronger travel insurance, including 21 days of out-of-province emergency medical coverage for travellers under 65, $1,500 per person in trip cancellation insurance, $5,000 in trip interruption, baggage loss or delay insurance, and rental car damage waiver coverage. The WestJet RBC offers more limited coverage, particularly for cancellation and interruption, and medical limits are lower. For families or older travellers, the TD card can help avoid hundreds of dollars in standalone coverage per trip.
Can I hold the TD Aeroplan and the WestJet RBC at the same time?
Yes, you can hold both cards at the same time to benefit from both the Air Canada and WestJet programs. The TD card covers Star Alliance flights and serves as the primary travel insurance, while the WestJet card unlocks the annual companion voucher and free checked bags for family travel. The combined $278 in fees is easily offset with one or two companion uses plus the welcome bonuses. Space your applications at least 90 days apart to avoid stacking inquiries on your credit file.
