The TD Rewards program is TD Bank’s proprietary rewards program. Every purchase made with an eligible TD credit card earns you points, which you can then redeem for travel, Amazon purchases, gift cards, or a statement credit. The best value is obtained through the Expedia For TD platform, where every 200 points equals $1 in savings on your trip.
Here is everything you need to know to fully understand the program, choose the right TD credit card, and use your TD Rewards points at the best possible rate.
The TD Rewards program is available exclusively to holders of an eligible TD credit card. It works on a simple principle: you earn points on everyday purchases, then choose how to redeem them.
Here are the key points to remember:
The value of a TD Rewards point depends entirely on how you use it. Here are the four redemption options, ranked from most to least advantageous:
Milesopedia uses an average value of 0.5¢ per point, provided you always redeem your points on Expedia For TD. Redeeming points for merchandise or a statement credit cuts the value in half: this is best avoided if you travel, even occasionally.
To earn TD Rewards points, you need a TD credit card that is part of the program. Three main cards earn TD Rewards points, each with its own earn rate and cap.
This is the most generous card in the program. It offers the highest earn rates, a $100 annual travel credit, and access to VIP airport lounges. It requires a personal income of at least $60,000 or a household income of $100,000.
The TD Platinum Travel Visa* Card is a mid-tier option in the program. It has no minimum income requirement, making it an attractive entry point. However, its bonus earn rates are capped at $15,000 in annual purchases per category.
This is the no-annual-fee option in the program. Ideal for discovering TD Rewards with no financial commitment or as a companion card. Its bonus earn rates are capped at $5,000 in annual purchases per category.
The TD Rewards program offers several ways to redeem your points. Not all options are equal. Here are the four main ones, from best value to least advantageous.
On the Expedia For TD website, every 200 TD Rewards points equals $1 in savings on your bookings.
This is the best possible value for your points: 100,000 points = $500.
The portal is reserved for holders of an eligible TD card. You will find:
If you book travel with a provider other than Expedia For TD—a travel agent, airline website, hotel, AirBnB, etc.—you can still apply your points to the expense within 90 days of the transaction. The value then drops to 0.4¢ per point: 100,000 points = $400.
This option is useful for travel expenses you won’t find on Expedia For TD: a round of golf while travelling, airport parking, a ski lift ticket, tolls, etc.
By linking your TD Rewards card to your Amazon.ca account, you can pay for purchases with your points at checkout. Each point is then worth $0.0033: 10,000 points = $33.
Registration is done on the Shop with Points program page on Amazon.ca. Points can be redeemed in minimum increments of 3 points.
You can also redeem your points for:
In these cases, the value of a point drops to around 0.25¢. For example, 10,000 points = $25 as a statement credit—half of what the same points would be worth on Expedia For TD. These options can help in a pinch, but they are never the best use of your points.
The My TD Rewards portal is accessible from the TD app or EasyWeb. Here are the steps to use your points depending on the option chosen:
By linking your eligible TD credit card to your Starbucks Rewards account, you receive 50% more TD Rewards points and more Stars on your Starbucks purchases at participating merchants in Canada. You can also redeem your TD Rewards points for Starbucks Stars directly in My TD Rewards.
The TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite* Card offers an annual birthday bonus equal to 10% of the points earned in the previous 12 months, up to 10,000 points. If you earn 100,000 points in the year, you therefore receive a 10,000-point bonus on your next account anniversary.
The TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite* Card includes a $100 TD travel credit, applied to the first eligible travel purchase of at least $500 (taxes included) charged to the account on Expedia For TD between January 1 and December 31. The credit resets every January 1, but it does not carry over from one year to the next.
As of April 30, 2025, the TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite* Card provides 4 free visits per year to more than 1,200 VIP airport lounges worldwide, through the Visa Airport Companion program with DragonPass. Registration is done directly with Visa.
