Ultimate Guide to YUL Montreal-Trudeau International Airport

A shuttle service, line 747, is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. There are two main places to take it: the bus terminal near Berri UQAM metro or Lionel-Groulx metro.

The bus ride costs $11 (have the exact amount in change), is free for those under 11, and can take anywhere from 25 to 70 minutes.

You can also use a cab or Uber to get to the airport.

Here’s how to buy your bus ticket from Montreal Airport to Montreal Downtown:

• Have the exact amount in change (no bills) and pay as you board the bus.
• With a Visa or Mastercard debit or credit card, pay for your ticket at a vending machine near the STM information counter.
• Buy your YUL Aéroport Montréal-Trudeau ticket using your smartphone, when you’re physically at the airport (Wi-Fi is free for 60 minutes thanks to the YUL Wi-Fi network):
  • Download the Chrono application for Google Play or App Store and pay with Visa or Mastercard
  • Or download the Transit app for Google Play or App Store and pay with Visa, Mastercard or American Express

After ticket purchase :

• Activate your ticket on the mobile application before joining the 747 YUL Aéroport / Centre-ville line. You then have 120 minutes to use it;
• On the Transit application, all tickets purchased during the same transaction will be activated simultaneously.
• Show it to the driver as you board the bus;
• A transfer will be given to you on board the bus (valid for 24 hours for travel by bus, metro, train or REM in Zone A – Greater Montreal).

If you have any problems, don’t hesitate to ask at the STM information desk. It is located in the international arrival zone. There’s also a STM representative near the bus stop outside the airport.

Once at the departure level, you will be able to check-in (if not already done) with or without luggage and will be able to access one of the three areas after passing through security:

• Domestic flights within Canada – Gates 1-6 (Checkpoint A),
• international flights – Gates 1 to 6 (checkpoint A),
• and flights to the United States – Located at terminal end, gates 7 to 12 (checkpoint C).

It’s advisable to arrive at least 3 hours before your flight, whatever your destination.

Plan ahead in case there is construction or closures on the highways around the airport, and if security lines at the airport are long.

There’s a free service called YUL EXPRESS to speed up your passage through the checkpoint.

All you need to do is fill in this form within 72 hours of your flight and set a specific time to pass through the checkpoint. Once you’ve arrived at the airport, all you have to do is take the YUL EXPRESS priority line. You can reserve your place for a group of up to 10 passengers.

You can carry your liquids, aerosols or gels with you if they are in a transparent, re-sealable plastic bag with a maximum capacity of 1 litre. Any container larger than 100 ml/100 g will be discarded.

If you need to park at YUL airport, there are several options:

• the Proxi parking lot (covered and secured), facing the airport,
• the indoor parking lot of the Montreal Airport Marriott In-Terminal hotel,
• the EconoParc P5 parking lot, which is located behind the Proxi with free shuttle service,
• the CellParc to wait for someone for free.

The letter“Y” is reserved for all airports in Canada. It is the first Canadian airport with a weather service.
