Points

Earning

You can earn Best Western Rewards points in several ways:

  • With hotel stays
  • With car rentals

With hotel stays

By default you earn 10 points per US dollar spent on the room rate, regardless of your level. Based on your elite status, a bonus applies: from 10% (Gold) to 50% (Diamond Select).

With car rentals

Several major rental agencies partner with Best Western, so you earn points when booking your car.

AgencyPoints
Alamo3 points for every dollar spent
Enterprise3 points for every dollar spent
National3 points for every dollar spent
Sixt1,000 points for each rental

Redeeming

For free hotel nights

The number of points for a free night varies by hotel, location and time of year. It’s a variable chart with no blackout dates: expect 8,000 to 70,000 points depending on the property and season.

For miles with other programs

You can convert your already-earned Best Western points into airline miles with 7 partner programs such as Aeroplan, Aeromexico Rewards or Avianca LifeMiles.

ProgramBest Western pointsMiles received
Aeroplan (Air Canada)5,0001,000
Aeromexico Rewards5,0001,600
Air France/KLM Flying Blue6,0001,000
Alaska Airlines Atmos Rewards5,0001,000
Avianca LifeMiles5,0001,000
Cathay Pacific Asia Miles5,0001,000
Southwest Rapid Rewards5,0001,200

You can also choose to earn miles directly (stay credited to the airline program) with 4 partners: PAYBACK Germany, SAS EuroBonus, United MileagePlus and Virgin Atlantic Flying Club, which aren’t available for conversion.

For gift cards and other products

Finally, you can use your points for gift cards or products, though we advise against it. The value per point is far lower than for a free night.

Status

Beyond the base member level, Best Western Rewards has 4 elite tiers: Gold, Platinum, Diamond and Diamond Select. Status is earned solely through qualifying nights in the year; points no longer count toward status.

StatusQualifying nightsPoints bonus
Gold5+10%
Platinum7+15%
Diamond15+30%
Diamond Select25+50%

Once earned, status stays valid for the rest of the current year and all of the following year.

Status match

Best Western Rewards runs a “Status Match… No Catch” program: if you hold elite status in another hotel loyalty program, Best Western matches it for free, with no hidden conditions. You get immediate access to elite benefits and earn points faster from day one.

To request it, email the following: your full name, complete address, email address, phone number, Best Western Rewards member number, and proof of elite status in another hotel program (a copy of the loyalty card or account statement showing your full name).

  • North American members: StatusMatch@bestwestern.com
  • Members outside North America: bwr.service@bestwestern.com

Requests without valid proof aren’t processed. Members who reach a new elite tier through Status Match in 2026 keep it through December 2027. Questions? Call 1 (800) 444-7646.

Rules

Transferring points between accounts

You can transfer points from one account to another, free of charge. Official rules: transfers in 1,000-point increments, sending account open for at least 30 days, recipient’s full name and account number required, maximum 150,000 points per calendar year (review beyond 70,000).
