Exclusive Welcome Offer

Milesopedia.com has been a BMO partner since 2015. As such, BMO has exclusive offers on some of its products that you won’t find on the BMO website!

For example:

To benefit from these exclusive offers, it is necessary to apply through our affiliate links. By doing so, you will get a much higher welcome bonus than the current offer for other customers, and you will support the development of Milesopedia and its community!

Today we have a new exclusive offer from BMO for Milesopedia readers:

70,000 BMO Rewards points

  • 40,000 points when you spend $3,000 in the first 3 months
  • 2,500 points per month after $2,000 in monthly purchases from the 4th to the 15th month, up to 30,000 points

BMO Rewards points

Earning points

The real strength of the BMO Ascend World Elite Mastercard is regarding points earning.

You will earn 5 points per dollar for your travel purchases. It is one of the best credit cards in Canada for this type of purchase.

Then you’ll earn 3 points per dollar for restaurant and bar purchases, entertainment or recurring bill payments. Everywhere else, you’ll earn 1 point per dollar, including at Costco.

Points value

BMO Rewards points have a fixed value for travel rewards redemption:

  • 1 point = $0.0067
  • 100 points = $0.67
  • 10,000 points = $67
  • 40,000 points = $268

Redeeming points

You can redeem your BMO Rewards points on the dedicated BMO Rewards portal. As always, the best return you can get from your points is on travel: airfare, hotels, car rentals, etc.

And until September 30, 2022, you can redeem your BMO Rewards points for any travel purchase made with your credit card. And at the same redemption rate as if you had made the reservation with BMO Rewards!

You can redeem any number of points and top it off with a payment on your credit card.

The BMO Ascend World Elite Mastercard covers you from the moment you use it to pay for your travel and/or use BMO points.

Plus, it’s one of the only credit cards that offers you insurance, no matter how much you charge to your card. Convenient when paying only the taxes of an award ticket! Check out this detailed article about this card’s insurance.

Here are the main features the insurance offers (as always, we invite you to check the details of the coverage in the insurance booklet that will be provided to you at the time of application or available on the BMO website).

Access to Airport VIP lounges

The BMO Ascend World Elite Mastercard comes with four annual airport lounge passes. All you have to do is show your credit card at the lounges.

For example, you will have access to the National Bank lounge at the Montreal-Trudeau Airport.

World Elite Concierge Service

As a BMO Ascend World Elite Mastercard credit cardholder, you have access to this concierge service offered by Mastercard. It can be useful, especially when you are abroad and do not speak the language well.

Accepted at Costco

As a Mastercard credit card, the BMO Ascend World Elite Mastercard is accepted at Costco.

Double points with National Car

It’s not well known, but you could earn double points (4 points per dollar spent) on your car rentals from National Car.

National Car is the car rental company we use the most (Executive status can be achieved with the Platinum Card® from American Express). This allows you to choose any vehicle by booking only the intermediate class.

You can combine the best of both worlds as we showed you on our trip to Vancouver where we were able to get a brand new Volvo XC60 SUV for the price of a mid-size car.

Bottom line

The BMO Ascend World Elite Mastercard is perfect if you have a lot of travel expenses and would like to have solid insurance. What’s more, you get four annual visits to airport lounges.
