Aeroplan Elite Status Changes - Air Canada Café Access
The conditions of access to Air Canada Café remain the same for Aeroplan 50K Elite members and above, but there is greater flexibility for guests.
From now on, an eligible Aeroplan Member may be accompanied not only by a guest, but also by his or her spouse and up to five dependent children.
This policy is now aligned with Air Canada’s Maple Leaf Lounges.
As a reminder, you can access Air Canada’s Maple Leaf Lounges or Air Canada Cafés in different ways:
- Aeroplan 50K, 75K or Super Elite status
- Star Alliance Gold status
- Business or Premium Rouge travel
- With a premium Aeroplan credit card such as the TD® Aeroplan® Visa Infinite Privilege* Credit Card, the American Express® Aeroplan®* Reserve Card, the American Express® Aeroplan®* Business Reserve Card or the CIBC® Aeroplan® Visa Infinite Privilege* Card.
Aeroplan Elite Status Changes - Flight Passes
As of January 1, 2024, as an Aeroplan Member, you can earn both eUpgrades and Status Qualifying Miles (SQMs) by performing an eligible activity with Flight Passes. Previously, you had to choose between one OR the other.
Depending on the Aeroplan Elite status held at the time of the eligible activity, the number of eUpgrade credits and SQM varies:
Aeroplan Elite status | Credits eUpgrades | MQS |
Aeroplan 25K | 4 | 750 |
Aeroplan 35K | 6 | 1 000 |
Aeroplan 50K | 8 | 1 250 |
Aeroplan 75K | 10 | 1 500 |

Aeroplan 35K | Checking in | All destinations |

Aeroplan Elite Status Changes - Lower Requalification Select Benefit
As of January 1, 2024, rather than reducing the thresholds of SQMs and Status Qualifying Segments (SQSs) required for requalification, Aeroplan Elite members will receive a one-time bonus of 5,000 SQMs and 5 SQSs. So, if you select this new benefit, you’ll immediately get the bonus, which will count towards gifts and eUpgrades linked to thresholds.
This change brings greater flexibility, although some may prefer the old system.
Reminder: 2024 Elite Status Rollover Benefits
Aeroplan reminds you that you can benefit from an automatic roll over of your eligible SQMs and eUpgrades credits to 2024 by holding an eligible Aeroplan premium credit card such as:
- TD® Aeroplan® Visa Infinite Privilege* Credit Card
- American Express®* Aeroplan® Reserve Card
- American Express® Aeroplan®* Business Reserve Card
- CIBC® Aeroplan® Visa Infinite Privilege* Card
For example, you can roll over to 2024 up to 50 eUpgrades credits unused in 2023.
