To the point Our best tips for saving money on parking at Montreal, Quebec, Ottawa and some U.S. airports near the border.

How to save on airport parking? This question comes up periodically on the Milesopedia Facebook group. The expense is indeed unavoidable unless we have someone to drop us off and pick us up. So let’s look at the different strategies that can help us reduce these costs on or near the site.

Parking at the airport

YUL - Parking at Montreal-Trudeau International Airport

    • P5: 420 spots. For bookings of 9 days or less, with free 24-hour shuttle service.

    • P9: 746 spots. With free 24-hour shuttle service.
  • ValetParc: 136 spots. With charging stations for electric vehicles, just a few seconds’ walk from the airport entrance.
  • HotelParc (Marriott): 79 spots, inside the Marriott Terminal Aéroport de Montréal.
  • and Staged: 491 spots. Spread over 3 floors, 1 of which is open-plan.

You can pay with Visa, Mastercard and American Express.

Prices range from $30 to $50/day, depending on services (valet), whether the area is covered or not, and proximity to the terminal. If you hold a Visa Infinite Privilege Credit Card such as the TDMD AéroplanMD Visa Infinite Privilege* Card or the BMO eclipse Visa Infinite Privilege* Card, you may qualify for a 10% discount on valet parking.

It’s one of the most expensive, but it’s the closest! This is the indoor parking lot of the Marriott Terminal Aéroport de Montréal hotel.

For $45 a day, travelers can leave their rain coats or winter boots behind and take the escalator to the terminal. There is also a charging station for electric vehicles and the premises are secure.

The least expensive option is the furthest away: Econoparc P5, P6, P7, P8 and P9 between $30 and $36 per day.

Take advantage of our partner offers.

A partnership with Aeroplan allows you to earn between 100 and 1,000 points when you use any of these airport parking spaces. Don’t forget to enter your membership number when booking.

CAA-Quebec is also a parking partner at Montreal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL). The company is offering a 10% discount on regular fares and online bookings.

Credit card discounts

If you have a National Bank World Elite Mastercard®, don’t forget to use your $150 annual travel credit, which reimburses airport parking fees.

This is one of its many advantages, and if you don’t use it during the year, it will be lost. Don’t wait!

Parking around airports

Via Rail's Dorval Station parking lot

The Via Rail Dorval station offers 300 parking spaces, divided into 2 zones for short- and long-term parking.

A shuttle bus will then take you to the terminal, between 6am and 10pm, depending on train departures and arrivals. The cost is $100 for a spot in the outdoor parking lot for 7 days and $17 per additional day.

It is not possible to book online or in advance.

Parking comparators near airports

Several sites list and compare airport parking lots.

In Canada and the United States, there are Airport Parking Reservations and AirportParking.com. The hotel parking offer on this site does not require you to stay overnight. A shuttle system is included for both the outward and return journeys. The service says it only puts secure parking online.

I have also selected two offers that seem to me to be the best and safest according to the comments made:

stationnement aéroport

Park 'N Fly

Several parking lots near airports, such as Park’N Fly, offer their services with 3 parking lots: Valet, Stationnement Express A and B.

In winter, a valet service, if you opt for this avenue, takes care of clearing snow from the car and keeping it warm, while the shuttle brings you back from the airport in 10 minutes. The electric vehicle is even fully recharged free of charge.

Your CAA membership card entitles you to a discount (except at Park’N Fly parking lots in Montreal).

Park N Fly stationnement

Parking included before/after a night at the hotel

There is another alternative to paying for parking near the airport.

Book one night’s accommodation before you leave or when you return from your trip, then leave your vehicle at the hotel.

The site ParkSleepFly lists hotels near airports that offer parking for the duration of our trip when we stay there one night before leaving or when we return. A shuttle bus will take care of us to get to and from the airport. The maximum duration is 14-21 days, depending on the hotel.

However, take the time to check if there is any kind of surveillance system installed in this parking lot.

Find out what security measures have been put in place, and read comments on the web from customers who have been there before you. Vehicle theft is a regular occurrence in this area.

In Quebec City, Hôtel Jaro offers interesting “Stay, Park, Fly” packages starting at $156.

Finally, we suggest you take a look at Tuango, which in the past has had good night + parking offers.

Our other tips for saving on airport parking rates

Public transport to/from the airport

Quebec City residents, like those in the Ottawa area who have to fly to Montreal, can choose to take the bus or train to YUL.

Orléans Express runs a bus from Quebec City (downtown) to Montreal-Trudeau International Airport twice a day. The cost is $86 one way, per person.

In addition, Orléans Express offers 4 trips a day to Montréal-Trudeau, for around $57 per person, per way.

Via Rail’s Discount Tuesdays promotion can save you money on your train journey. The cost is $42 per person per trip for Québec-Dorval and $41 per person per trip for Ottawa-Dorval. Then simply take the free Via Rail shuttle directly to the airport.

In addition, because train and bus schedules are not aligned with airplane schedules, travelers must stay overnight in a hotel before or after the trip. There will be some calculations to do. And then it can be advantageous to redeem points for free hotel nights.

Finally, let’s add to the public transit chapter:

  • Shuttle 747, linking downtown Montreal to YUL, 24/7 for $11 per trip.
  • the Aeronavette , which leaves from Sherbrooke and stops at several towns in the Eastern Townships and Montérégie. The 24/7 round trip service costs between $100 and $152 + taxes. Moreover, it adapts to our flight schedule.

Car rental from/to the airport

Another tip is to rent a car with Avis, Budget or others and return it to the airport rental agency.

Find out if it’s worth using or earning AIR MILES miles / Aeroplan points through their portals.

Finally, a reminder that UBER, private drivers and cabs also exist. These are sometimes the most appropriate and least restrictive strategies.

Stationnement aéroport

Other strategies

To make your trip more enjoyable, there is a baggage and coat check service at YUL airport that is open 24/7.

For $30 (for one person) or $60 (for two adults and two children), you can leave your coat and boots here for a week. It is located near the Tim Hortons in the flight arrival area.

Do you know Lanla? This is a marketing and consumer psychology company. If you are accepted as a mystery shopper, you may be asked to do a small investigation in exchange for $100 off your parking or to pay for part of your meal at one of the airport’s restaurants.

Finally, let’s finish with another application that will allow you to find not only parking at the airport but also a place to park. In big cities, this can come in handy. This is Best Parking.
