The MOI program will bring together new banners from significant brands in Quebec, and will team up with RBC to create a new co-branded credit card. Here’s what you need to know about these major changes. With all this, Jean Coutu will no longer be a partner of the AIR MILES program.
New program, new banners
****Update March 03, 2023: The new MOI program will be in effect in May 2023. The exact date has yet to be confirmed. At this time, all Metro, Jean Coutu, Super C, Brunet and Première Moisson will be on the new MOI program. Therefore, Jean Coutu will no longer be a partner with the AIR MILES program in May 2023.
As of next spring, Métro, Jean Coutu, Super C, Brunet and Première Moisson will all form the MOI program. With the addition of these partners, the new program will be present in over 700 locations in Quebec.
The METRO inc. team also promises a more personalized offer and additional benefits when MOI is launched, details of which we will learn later.
The current metro&moi program, which has existed since 2010, has more than 1.2 million active members; a number that is likely to rise in the spring of 2023 thanks to the retailers joining the new program.
Members of the MOI program will not need to re-enroll. The same card and the same metro&me number will still work in the new program.

****Updated 03 March 2023 ***
The point exchange will not change. Members will still be able to redeem points earned in increments of 125 points, with a minimum of 500 MOI points.
The thing that will change is that the member will not have to wait every quarter to get their “check”. From now on, points to be redeemed will be available at all times, always with a minimum of 500 points.
Unredeemed award certificates as of April 27, 2023 will be transferred to the account automatically. Then, starting in May, they will be redeemable at all Metro, Jean Coutu, Super C, Brunet and Première Moisson stores.
Jean Coutu leaves Air Miles
As we have suspected for some time, Jean Coutu will leave the AIR MILES loyalty program to join the MOI program of the METRO Group Inc. The transition will take place in the spring of 2023.
All Jean Coutu stores in Quebec, Ontario and New Brunswick will be affected by this change. This will be another loss for AIR MILES, as was the case for Staples and IGA recently.
New MOI-RBC co-branded credit card
*** Update March 03, 2023: A new RBC credit card will be available starting in April 2023. The exact date is to be confirmed. It will be called MOI RBC Visa. There will be no annual fee and no minimum income requirement.
In addition, METRO Inc. has announced that it is partnering with the Royal Bank of Canada to offer a credit card. This new MOI-RBC card will allow customers to double their earnings. In fact, there will be an accumulation on the purchases made on the account, in addition to accumulating the basic MOI points in store.
We don’t yet know the accumulation rate or the exchange rates that will help lower the grocery bill. This will be communicated in the coming months.
Bottom Line
We will be watching closely for the arrival of this new program next spring, as the MOI program looks to compete with other large established programs in grocery and drug stores such as the Scene+ and PC Optimum programs.
Will the new MOI program eventually be expanded to the rest of Canada? Because right now, Metro grocery stores in other provinces are still using the AIR MILES program…
