From March 8 to March 22, 2021, you'll be able to use fewer points for purchases on Amazon.ca or to get prepaid cards.
The American Express Membership Rewards Program is running a promotion from March 8 to March 22, 2021, to redeem your points:
- For prepaid cards
- For purchases on amazon.ca
Fewer points for prepaid cards
For a limited time, you can redeem fewer points for prepaid cards:
|$25||3,125 points||2,500 points|
|$50||6,250 points||5,000 points|
|$100||12,500 points||10,000 points|
|$200||25,000 points||20,000 points|
|$500||62,500 points||50,000 points|
|$1,000||125,000 points||100,000 points|
For example, if in the past few months you have earned 50,000 points with the American Express Cobalt™ Card, you could redeem them for a $500 prepaid card.
If you don’t have this Card yet, get it before the promotion ends:
Fewer points for amazon.ca
For a limited time only, you can redeem fewer points for purchases on Amazon.ca. Instead of using 1,000 points for $7, you can redeem 1,000 points for $10 on Amazon.ca.
In both cases, the redemption rate is the same as what you would get by using your points for travel purchases made with your Card: 1 cent per point.
However, this is less than you could get by transferring your points to a program like Marriott Bonvoy (or Aeroplan for eligible cards).
But at a time when travel is scarce, one of these two options may be of interest to you! Here are the eligible American Express cards:
