It’s official! Shell will remain an AIR MILES partner for many years to come.
AIR MILES and Shell
The AIR MILES program has announced that it has renewed its contract with Shell for several years. This partnership has lasted since 1992.
This is news that comes as a great surprise to us. Indeed, the Empire Company Limited group, which owns Sobeys Inc. (IGA, Sobeys, Foodland, etc.) has announced that it is leaving the AIR MILES to partner with Scene+.
Since the Empire Group also owns Shell, it made sense that these stations would eventually migrate to the same Scene+ program. In addition, several rumours from Shell gas station clerks were telling customers that the AIR MILES program would end on January 1, 2023.
But not ! AIR MILES is here to stay with Shell. The exact duration of the partnership was not disclosed.
What to do now?
Collecting and redeeming AIR MILES miles at Shell
Nothing! Redeem and earning will continue as usual. In the press release, there was no mention of changes in this area.
In addition, we believe that the Shell Go Plus program will still be in effect. This way of collecting miles quickly was linked to AIR MILES. But, nothing has been communicated on this subject for the moment either.
Bottom line
This must be a great relief for the AIR MILES program and its members. With the loss of several of their major partners in recent years, Shell is one of the few to continue with AIR MILES.
