With this new partnership, you can earn Aeroplan points on eligible car rentals with Hertz, Dollar, and Thrifty, helping you access free travel faster.

New Aeroplan and Hertz Partnership Benefits

The new partnership between Aeroplan and Hertz lets you earn more Aeroplan points, enjoy increased benefits, and gain Aeroplan elite status faster.

You can easily enjoy the new earning opportunity by making sure you’re signed up for both an Aeroplan account and a Hertz Gold+ account, and then either:

  • Go to your Hertz Gold + account and add your Aeroplan number as a frequent traveller program, then set it as your preferred program.

OR

  • Remember to add your Aeroplan number each time you book through Hertz, Thrifty, or Dollar.

Additionally, if you forget to add your Aeroplan membership number, you can request retroactive Aeroplan points via the Hertz website for up to 6 months after the rental date.

Aeroplan Hertz Partnership How To

Once you’re enrolled in both programs and have added your Aeroplan number, you can enjoy the following benefits:

  • Earn up to 5 Aeroplan points per $1 spent on all qualifying rentals with Hertz®, Dollar®, and Thrifty® (based on your Aeroplan elite status)
  • Get 1 Status Qualifying Credit (SQC) per 5 Aeroplan points earned through the partnership
  • Complimentary Five Star® or President’s Circle® status in Hertz Gold+ TM Rewards® loyalty program for all Aeroplan elite members and select Aeroplan credit card holders
  • Preferred pricing and an extra 2 points per $1 spent on Hertz, Thrifty, and Dollar car rentals when reserving through aircanada.com

Aeroplan points earning rates

All Aeroplan members are eligible to earn points when they book with Hertz, Dollar, and Thrifty. However, the number of Aeroplan points that you earn depends on your Aeroplan elite status and which of the three rental companies you book with.

Booking with Hertz

For car rental bookings made after May 6, 2026, with Hertz, you can earn Aeroplan points at the following rates:

  • Non-elite Aeroplan members: 2 points per every $1 spent
  • Aeroplan Elite 25K members: 3 points per every $1 spent
  • Aeroplan Elite 35K members: 3 points per every $1 spent
  • Aeroplan Elite 50K members: 3 points per every $1 spent
  • Aeroplan Elite 75K members: 4 points per every $1 spent
  • Aeroplan Super Elite members: 5 points per every $1 spent

Booking with Dollar and Thrifty

For car rental bookings made after May 6, 2026, with Dollar or Thrifty, you can earn 2 Aeroplan points per $1 spent.

Aeroplan Hertz Earning Rates

Status Qualifying Credit earning rate

For all eligible bookings made after May 6, 2026, with Hertz, Dollar, and Thrifty, Aeroplan members will also get 1 Status Qualifying Credit (SQC) for every 5 Aeroplan points earned through the partnership.

As a reminder, you need the following number of SQC to earn Aeroplan elite status:

  • Aeroplan 25K status: 25,000 SQC
  • Aeroplan 35K status: 35,000 SQC
  • Aeroplan 50K status: 50,000 SQC
  • Aeroplan 75K status: 75,000 SQC
  • Aeroplan Super Elite status: 125,000 SQC

Hertz loyalty program benefits

Another benefit of the partnership is that eligible Aeroplan elite members and Aeroplan credit card holders can enjoy Five Star or President’s Circle status in Hertz’s reward program.

President’s Circle status

You get complimentary Hertz President’s Circle status with Aeroplan 75K or Super Elite status, or with the following premium credit cards:

Five-Star status

Aeroplan 25K, 35K, and 50K can enjoy free Five Star Hertz status, as can those who have one of the following Aeroplan credit cards:
