FADOQ for those 50 and over

As Canada’s largest seniors’ organization, FADOQ (Fédération de l’Âge d’Or du Québec) offers over 1,000 advantageous discounts and exclusive privileges. This enables members aged 50 and over to enjoy their retirement to the full, while keeping their budget under control.

These discounts apply equally to food, finance and insurance, restaurants, electronics, health and beauty products, and more.

The cost of the FADOQ privilege card is $30 for a 12-month subscription or $50 for 24 months, payable by Visa or Mastercard. By browsing their site, you can see the different offers. For example, a new insurance policy with lower premiums thanks to a FADOQ membership quickly pays for itself!

CARP (Canadian Association of Retired Persons) is the equivalent for all of Canada.

Activities

Amerispa: Every Tuesday of the month, people aged 60 and over benefit from a 20% discount on a treatment or package at participating centers.

Nautilus Plus: Seniors aged 65 and over receive a 20% discount on the regular rate.

SEPAQ:

  1. 10% discount on camping stays from Sunday to Thursday with the code CAMPING-60ANS when booking for those aged 60 and over;
  2. 10% discount on a fishing holiday with cottage accommodation from Sunday to Thursday with the code PECHE-60ANS for those aged 60 and over between the end of July and September;
  3. 10% discount on daily admission or membership for people aged 65 and over at the Aquarium du Québec.

Banks

Laurentian Bank: The 60+ Advantage program offers a $5 discount on the monthly rate of 2 packages: Transigez beaucoup and Transigez sans limite.

Scotiabank: Seniors 60 and over receive $7 off the Scotiabank Ultimate Chequing Account, $4 off the Scotiabank Essential Chequing Account, $4 off the Scotiabank Basic Plus Chequing Account, and free monthly fees on a Basic Scotiabank Chequing Account, a Scotia US Dollar Daily Interest Account and a Scotia Euro Account.

TD Bank: TD Bank offers a discount on monthly fees for certain chequing accounts for people aged 60 and over. The discount is $2.75 on a daily chequing account, $5 on an unlimited chequing account and $7.50 on an all-inclusive banking package.

BMO: BMO offers a $4 discount on its monthly banking account packages for people aged 60 and over. The Convenience Account is now free, the BMO Chequing Plus Account is $7.95, the BMO Performance Chequing Account is $12.95 and the BMO Preferred Chequing Account is $26.

NBC: Seniors aged 65 and over receive a $5 rebate on monthly National Bank banking packages. This way, you’ll get the NBC Chequing Account The Minimalist for free, the NBC Chequing Account The Modest for $5.95, the NBC Chequing Account The Connected for $10.95 per month and the NBC Chequing Account The Total for $23.95.

CIBC: CIBC offers the benefits of the CIBC SmartSteps program for seniors, starting at age 65. There’s a $6.95 monthly fee reduction on selected chequing accounts, bank drafts and money orders at no charge, as well as a $5 reduction on the annual rental fee for a safety deposit box.

Desjardins: As soon as you turn 60, you’ll benefit from a $4 monthly fee reduction on your current account. People aged 71 and over also have certain transactions free of charge if you ask your Caisse.

RBC: If you are 65 years of age or older, you may be eligible for discounts ranging from $4 to $7.50 on the RBC Day to Day Banking Plan, RBC Advantage Banking Plan, RBC Signature No Limit Banking Plan and RBC VIP Banking Plan.

Lawtons Drugs: 20% discount for people 55 and over on several eligible products who swipe their Scene+ card at checkout.

Shoppers Drug Mart: Every Thursday, Shoppers Drug Mart offers a 20% discount to PC Optimum members age 65 and over and their accompanying family members.
