To the point Aeroplan and Chexy join forces in a multi-year agreement to enable Aeroplan members to earn more rewards through their essential expenses.

Today Aeroplan announced a multi-year partnership with Chexy, an innovative Canadian fintech that will enable members to earn more points on their essential spending.

Before the arrival of Chexy, certain major expenses such as rent were not eligible to earn points, since it was not possible to pay by credit card. For other types of payment, such as taxes, it was necessary to use services like Plastiq or PaySimply; Chexy now offers this service for Visa and American Express cards. Thanks to this agreement, Aeroplan members can now convert their major expenses into valuable travel points.

To mark the occasion, Chexy and Aeroplan are launching an attractive offer to help its member earn even more points.

Chexy

Chexy is a Canadian company that lets you use your credit card to make payments usually made by electronic transfer or direct debit. Thanks to Chexy’s services, you can currently pay:

  • Your rent
  • Your recurring bills: school fees, insurance, municipal taxes, etc.
  • Your taxes

Chexy allows its users to earn points and rewards on every dollar spent on these types of payments.

Aeroplan and Chexy - Strategies for Maximizing Your Points

Aeroplan Credit Cards

Co-branded credit cards from Aeroplan earn points on every dollar you spend. Since spending with Chexy is considered a recurring bill, you can earn up to 1.25 Aeroplan points per dollar with these cards:

Our Advice

Chexy charges a fee of 1.75%, so it’s important to choose your credit card carefully.

To get the most out of this service, we recommend :

  • Calculating the cost/benefit ratio, taking Chexy service charges into account
  • Choose a high-end Aeroplan credit card to maximize earnings
  • Benefit quickly from welcome offers before they expire

This can also be a good opportunity to unlock a welcome offer from credit cards that require higher spending, such as paying taxes or rent. For example, if you pay $2,000 a month in rent, you can earn a total of 24,000 points a year with the TD® Aeroplan® Visa Infinite* Card or 30,000 points with a high-end card like the American Express® Aeroplan®* Reserve Card.

Combined with welcome offers, this will earn you enough points for round-trip flights to many destinations. Check out our guide to 10 destinations to fly to with 55,000 Aeroplan points to inspire your next trip.

Bottom Line

With the launch offer, this partnership between Aeroplan and Chexy offers an additional way to reach your rewards goals faster for rewards or award flights. Combined with other partnerships such as Uber, LCBO, or eStore, it becomes easier to earn enough points for award flights on over 45 airlines and to over 1,300 destinations.
