The PaySimply Service for Paying Bills

With PaySimply – a Canadian company- you can pay many bills using a credit card.

Named one of Canada’s best-run companies, it is a partner of the Canada Revenue Agency, Revenue Quebec and Canada Post.

It is possible to search the list of issuers. Here’s an example of a search using the keyword “City of “:

This makes it easy to see:

  • The municipal administration for payment of municipal and school taxes (or fines… oops!)
  • Various private schools, colleges and universities
  • Some companies

Here’s another example with the keyword “insurance“:

Please note that the City of Montreal is no longer available in the list of suppliers as of spring 2024. Plastiq offers this option, provided you pay by cheque and pay in full.

Credit Cards to Use on PaySimply

Paying bills via PaySimply is only interesting for earning reward points. In fact, I wouldn’t recommend using a credit card if your aim is to spread out your payments: the interest charges paid on top of PaySimply fees will be high. You’re better off paying directly from your checking account.

Similarly, no credit card offers a sufficient return on bill payments to offset the 2.5% fee. We therefore only recommend PaySimply for credit cards offering a large welcome bonus but requiring you to spend a lot of money in a few months.

The credit cards that offer the most substantial welcome bonuses in Canada are from American Express, particularly with their small business cards (which are also available to individuals).

Here are some current offers:

Please note that PaySimply charges to a BMO Rewards card do not earn rewards points.

For example, the BMO Ascend® World Elite®* Mastercard®* lets you use PaySimply to pay a bill. However, this expense will not count as an eligible expense for a welcome offer or earn BMO Rewards points.

The Best Credit Cards to Use on PaySimply Right Now

To make it all worthwhile, here are the best welcome offers available.

Synchronize your credit card application with future payments:

  • Professional orders;
  • Municipal taxes;
  • Or taxes to pay.

Then use PaySimply to unlock a great bonus. In return, you’ll have collected a ton of points for your future all-inclusive trip, your next getaway to Walt Disney World or to pay for all your accommodation on a road trip.

Review on Paysimply in Canada

The PaySimply service is an alternative solution to Plastiq.com.

However, some providers still don’t accept credit cards through PaySimply (sometimes, you can bypass this when using PayPal). You’ll have to turn to other services like Plastiq.

How long does it take PaySimply to process the request?

This varies according to the issuer of the invoice.

Most of the time, it takes PaySimply 3 days to receive and settle the funds. Then add the time it takes for the biller to remit the payment to your account, which will vary by a few additional days.

How does PaySimply work?

PaySimply acts as an intermediary for the payment of your invoices.

You make a transaction on the PaySimply site to pay an account, while paying with your credit card. Your credit card is charged, and PaySimply forwards your payment to the bill issuer (government organizations, businesses of all sizes, utilities, etc.).

Does www.PaySimply.ca use Paypal?

Yes!

The processing fee is 2.5% and is reserved for PayPal accounts in Canada only.
