According to Le Figaro, nearly 2,000 hotels will open their doors around the world this year. Here’s a roundup of the most eagerly awaited establishments, from New York to Milan, via Turkey and Osaka, Japan.
The Waldorf Astoria New York, a symbol of glamour and luxury for almost a century, will reopen in spring 2025 after a major restoration. Guests will enjoy access to exceptional amenities, including a spa, state-of-the-art fitness center and restaurant led by chef Michael Anthony. The complex will also house 43,000 square feet of event space, including an opera-inspired ballroom.
In Costa Rica, the same chain will open the Waldorf Astoria Costa Rica Punta Cacique in spring 2025. The resort overlooks the secluded beach of Playa Penca and fuses modern architecture with tropical surroundings. With 148 rooms and 40 suites, refined restaurants, a spa and multi-level swimming pools, the resort will offer an immersive experience of luxury in the midst of nature.
The Zemi Miches All-Inclusive Resort, Curio Collection by Hilton, will welcome guests in the first quarter of 2025, in the Dominican Republic, north of Punta Cana. This 500-room all-inclusive resort combines sophisticated design with ecological practices. With six restaurants, six bars, a water park, a kids’ club, boutiques and a signature spa, the resort offers a wide range of activities and leisure facilities. Guests can also take advantage of a fitness center and juice bar to recharge their batteries.
In Italy, Casa Brera, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Milan, joins Marriott’s Luxury Collection portfolio in January 2025, after opening in autumn 2024. Located near Piazza della Scala, this hotel combines Milanese heritage with contemporary design. With 116 elegant rooms, it offers several culinary experiences: the Italian restaurant Scena, the skybar Etereo, and the Japanese restaurant Odachi, under the direction of Michelin-starred chefs Andrea Berton and Haruo Ichikawa.
Also in Italy, The Lake Como EDITION will open in spring of 2025 on the western shore of Lake Como, just minutes from Milan. The hotel, a historic 19th-century property, will feature 145 rooms, including two penthouse suites, a lively bar, floating pool and restaurants offering spectacular views of the lake and Bellagio mountains. This new EDITION location will blend modern design, luxury and exceptional service while preserving the charm of its historic heritage.
After setting up in Courchevel, Provence and Versailles, Airelles is preparing to open a new hotel in Venice in 2025. Located on the island of Giudecca, within the historic walls of the former Bauer Palladio, the Airelles Venezia will feature 45 rooms and suites, a Cicchetti bar (appetizers), an Airelles spa, a Venetian garden and three swimming pools. Opening is scheduled for autumn 2025.
The Hilton Turin City Centre, the first Hilton Hotels & Resorts in Turin, Italy, will open its doors in the second quarter of 2025. This 175-room hotel, located in the heart of the city, has easy access to Turin’s historical, cultural and culinary scene, just 45 minutes from Milan by train. The hotel will feature an Italian restaurant, a bar, an executive lounge, a spa with indoor pool, fitness center and five treatment rooms. Business travellers can take advantage of their 10 meeting rooms.
Scheduled to open in summer 2025, the Conrad Hamburg will mark the arrival of Hilton’s Conrad Hotels & Resorts luxury brand in Germany. Located in the historic Levantehaus building in the heart of Hamburg on the famous Mönckebergstraße, the hotel will feature 238 rooms, including 25 spacious suites. Guests will benefit from nine meeting rooms, an elegant lounge bar, a restaurant, a spa, state-of-the-art gym and swimming pool. The hotel is also within easy reach of the city’s main tourist attractions and city transporation.
In Spain, The Palace, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Madrid will make its debut in March 2025 after a complete transformation. Commissioned by King Alfonso XIII in 1912, this iconic hotel in a UNESCO-listed district combines its rich heritage with modern services. The 470 rooms and common areas have been renovated, and the historic facade restored, to offer a stay steeped in elegance and history. The hotel was formerly known as The Westin Palace.
Also in Spain, Soho House, a hotel group founded in London in the 90s by Nick Jones, known for its private clubs created for creatives, is moving to Ibiza in 2025. Set in the heart of an olive grove, Soho Farmhouse Ibiza will offer country-style rooms, an outdoor pool, a holistic spa and a restaurant overlooking the garden.
This summer, the JW Marriott Crete Resort & Spa will open in Greece, with the chain taking its first steps on the Cretan coast. Located in Marathi, near Chania, the resort of 160 luxury rooms, suites and villas spans over 100 hectares, with breathtaking views over the Aegean Sea. Each unit has direct access to the sea. The hotel offers five restaurants, including ÕNALOS, a seafood restaurant offering a “sea to table” experience, and Anóee, a wood-fired Cretan restaurant. The former InterContinental Prague will reopen as the Fairmont Golden Prague this spring, after closing in 2022 for a complete renovation. The hotel will feature 320 rooms and suites, some with floor-to-ceiling windows for views of the river and the UNESCO World Heritage Old Town. The establishment will offer six dining options, a lounge-club Fairmont Gold, a ballroom, as well as the 1,400 m² Fairmont spa featuring a private garden, saunas, hammams, indoor and outdoor pools and a fitness center.
The Four Points by Sheraton São Vincent Laginha Beach will open this spring, marking Marriott International’s entry into Cape Verde. Located in the port city of Mindelo, north of the island of São Vicente, known for its colourful and lively carnival, this 128-room resort boasts spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean. Facilities include an infinity pool, two restaurants, a spa, a fitness center, a hanging garden and direct access to Laginha beach, accessible via an aerial walkway on the second floor.
In South Africa, the Morea House, Cape Town’s first Autograph Collection hotel, will open this summer just a stone’s throw from Camps Bay beach. This elegant hotel will feature 90 rooms decorated in tones inspired by local nature. On the third floor, a panoramic terrace with a tapas restaurant-bar will allow guests to enjoy the sunsets. The resort will offer Mediterranean and Levantine fusion cuisine. It will also host activities such as diving, hiking, yoga sessions or a trip to the Wellness Spa for signature treatments.
Set amidst the lunar landscapes of Turkey’s Cappadocia region, the Cappadocia Marriott Hotel makes its debut in January 2025 as the region’s largest and most modern hotel. Inspired by the local beauty, the hotel offers 298 rooms and three restaurants: The Fairy Flame for Turkish cuisine, Sapore for Italian flavours and a casual poolside bar. In Jordan, the Signia by Hilton Amman this month becomes the brand’s first property outside the USA. Located in the southern district of the Grand Green Osaka urban development, the hotel will span 12 floors of a 39-storey tower and feature 252 guest rooms.
