Welcome offer
Take advantage of the welcome offer and earn up to 40,000 bonus points, distributed as follows:
Card features
*Grocery and restaurant: Points earned on grocery and restaurant purchases depend on the total gross monthly amount charged to the credit card account, regardless of category. Earn 5 points per dollar spent on eligible grocery and restaurant purchases. Earn 5 points per dollar on the first $2,500 in gross monthly purchases charged to the account. Beyond that amount, eligible grocery and restaurant expenses earn 2 points per dollar spent. The total gross monthly amount is calculated based on your monthly billing period. Grocery purchases include any purchase made at a store that primarily sells food, i.e., grocery store, delicatessen, supermarket, greengrocer or specialty food store. Subscriptions to ready-to-cook services and meal delivery services are eligible. Excluded from this definition are retail stores and big-box stores whose main activity is the sale of non-food products. Some merchants may sell the same or similar products or services as eligible merchants, or are separate merchants located on the same premises as eligible merchants, but are classified by Mastercard in different categories. Purchases made at other merchants only qualify for basic rewards points. An in-restaurant purchase refers to a purchase made in a restaurant, including fast-food restaurants, bars, discotheques, nightclubs and taverns.
Gas and Electric Vehicle Charging: To earn 2 points per dollar in purchases, you will need to purchase gas or an electrical vehicle charge from a service station or from certain big-box stores. Some merchants may sell the same or similar products or services as eligible merchants, or are separate merchants located on the same premises as eligible merchants, but are classified by Mastercard in different categories. Purchases made at other merchants are eligible for basic rewards points only.
Recurring bill: Recurring bill payments are defined as payments made monthly or regularly that are automatically deducted by the merchant from your National Bank World Elite Mastercard. Not all merchants offer recurring bill payments, and not all recurring payments are considered recurring bill payments. As a result, some payments may not qualify for Accelerated Rewards points.
À la Carte Travel: To earn 2 points per dollar in purchases, you must make your eligible purchases via the À la carte TravelTM Agency section of our À la carte RewardsTM site.
Other purchases: For example, if you spend $400 monthly on groceries, $200 on gas, $100 on recurring bills and $150 on other purchases, the $850 you spend will generate 2,750 points, broken down as follows: 2,000 points on groceries (since the total gross monthly amount is $850, or less than $2,500), 400 points on gas, 200 points on recurring bills and 150 points on other purchases.
Reimbursement of travel expenses
Clients must submit required documents within the given deadline. Certain conditions may apply. Only the primary cardholder (“Cardholder”) of National Bank World Elite Mastercard whose account is in good standing can request a refund of travel expenses.
Account in good standing” means a credit card account that does not contravene the Credit Card Agreement in any way and on which no restrictions apply.
For example, the annual fees related to the credit card must have been paid in full. The maximum reimbursement of $150 can be claimed from January 1 to December 31 of each year.
Eligible expenses include:
The claim must be submitted within 60 days of the purchase date and accompanied by proof of purchase. Travel expenses must be charged to the National Bank World Elite Mastercard credit card account. The maximum reimbursement amount is $150 per account. The refund will be issued within 7 business days following the request approval date and after receiving all required information.
National Bank reserves the right to request additional supporting documents for validation purposes (e.g. invoices). You must keep all receipts and supporting documents for a period of 12 months from the date of your claim. An amount not claimed in a year cannot be carried over to the following year. You can apply online at rewards.nbc.ca or by calling 1-800-341-8083 (toll-free) and an agent will assist you with your travel claim.
Credit terms
Grace period: No interest will be charged on purchases made during the month, provided the client pays the balance in full within twenty-one (21) days of the statement date. This grace period does not apply to cash advances or balance transfers.
Minimum payment: If your account balance is lower than $10, you must pay the entire balance.
If you reside in the province of Quebec, your minimum payment is the greater of 5% of your account balance, plus any overdue amounts, or $10.
If you live outside Quebec, your minimum payment is 2.5% of your credit card balance, plus any past-due amount or $10, whichever is greater.

1 This offer only applies to new applications for a WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard credit card received between October 31, 2024 and April 1, 2025 (“Offer Period”) and approved by Royal Bank of Canada (“Royal Bank”) subject to the conditions below. Additional cardholders(s) (co-applicant and authorized user(s)) on the WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard credit card account are not eligible for this offer. Existing cardholders on any RBC Royal Bank personal credit card account transferring to a WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard credit card during the Offer Period, are not eligible for the offer. You will be eligible to receive the welcome bonus of 250 WestJet dollars (“Welcome WestJet dollars”) upon your first purchase. The Welcome WestJet dollars will appear in your WestJet Rewards account, accessible at westjet.com/account, 4-6 weeks after your first purchase transaction date, provided that your WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard credit card account (“Credit Card Account”) remains open and in good standing at that time, “good standing” meaning that your Credit Card Account must not be past due for more than two (2) consecutive Credit Card Account statement periods, closed, charged off or in credit revoked status at that time. To receive the additional 200 WestJet dollars (“Additional WestJet dollars”), (i) a total of $5,000 or more (“Qualifying Transaction Amount”) in qualifying net purchases and/or pre-authorized bill payment transactions (“Qualifying Transactions”) must be posted to your Credit Card Account within the first 3 months of your Credit Card Account opening date (“Period”), and (ii) your Credit Card must remain open and in good standing at the time the Additional WestJet dollars are awarded to your WestJet Rewards account, approximately 6 weeks after the date you reach $5,000 in Qualifying Transactions. Qualifying Transactions exclude cash advances (including balance transfers, cash-like transactions and bill payments that are not pre-authorized charges that you set up with a merchant), interest charges and fees. Credits for returns and adjustments posted to your Credit Card Account during the Period will reduce the amount of your Qualifying Transactions. The Qualifying Transaction Amount is based on the transaction posting date of each Qualifying Transaction, not the transaction date. This means that transactions that take place prior to the last day of the Period will not be considered for the Qualifying Transaction Amount if they have not yet been posted or processed by the merchant, the payment network (Mastercard) or Royal Bank by the last day of the Period. If you close or change your WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard credit card for another type of RBC Royal Bank credit card before the Welcome WestJet dollars and/or the Additional WestJet dollars have been credited to your WestJet Rewards account, you may lose the benefit of this offer. This offer may not be combined or used in conjunction with any other offer unless otherwise set out. Royal Bank of Canada and WestJet reserve the right to modify, cancel or withdraw this offer at any time without notice, even after your application has been approved, including if we suspect that you may be manipulating or abusing it, or engaging in any suspicious or fraudulent activity, as determined by Royal Bank of Canada.
2 Once approved for the WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard, please allow 4-6 weeks after the first purchase transaction date for the welcome round-trip companion voucher (the “World Elite Companion Voucher”) to appear on your WestJet Rewards account, accessible at westjet.com/account. The World Elite Companion Voucher is offered to new WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard cardholders only, and annually thereafter 4-6 weeks after the annual fee is charged. Applicable taxes, fees, charges and other ATC (Air Transportation Charges) on the World Elite Companion Voucher must be paid at time of booking. Unless otherwise stated, companion voucher fees are quoted in Canadian dollars (CAD) and are quoted for flights originating in Canada. World Elite Companion Voucher bookings originating outside of Canada will be in the currency of the departure country. Visit westjet.com/creditcard-companion-voucher for complete details. Additional fees may apply for bookings made via the Contact Centre.
World Elite Companion Voucher may only be used: A) for all published and eligible Economy Fares and Premium Fares wholly marketed and operated by WestJet; B) if the companion is travelling with you on the same itinerary; and C) for new bookings made through westjet.com or WestJet’s Contact Centre. Other terms and conditions apply. Visit westjet.com/companion-voucher for complete details. The welcome (first) World Elite Companion Voucher is not available to existing or former WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard primary cardholders applying for or transferring to a WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard. Additional cardholders (co-applicant and authorized user(s)) are also not eligible for the World Elite Companion Voucher offer.
