Air Canada has just announced an offer for existing and new Aeroplan credit cardholders to earn or upgrade their Aeroplan status.
For existing Aeroplan premium credit cardholders, you can earn or upgrade your Aeroplan Elite status:
Once you achieve the minimum spend requirement, here’s what you might get:
For example, if you have Aeroplan 25K Elite status and spend $10,000 by December 7, 2021 on your TD® Aeroplan® Visa Infinite Privilege* Card, you will earn Aeroplan 35K status for 2022.
Super Elite Members (the highest Aeroplan status) will receive :
The eligible credit cards are :
However, this offer does not apply to Quebec residents for CIBC and TD cards.
For new Aeroplan premium credit cardholders (obtained between July 12 and October 1, 2021), you can get or upgrade to Aeroplan Elite status:
For example, if you have Aeroplan 25K Elite status and spend $10,000 by November 30, 2021, on your American Express® Aeroplan®* Reserve Card, you will earn Aeroplan 35K Elite status for 2022.
Note that the date to upgrade your status is based on your Aeroplan Elite Status as of November 30, 2021.
This means that if you are currently a 25K member, but by November 30, 2021, you become a 35K member, you can become a 50K member with this offer.
Also, another situation could be particularly interesting for some members: if you have 50K status currently and get 75K status by November 30, 2021, you could become Super Elite for the entire year of 2022 with this offer.
Here’s a new way to earn an Aeroplan Elite Status for regular spending on one of the premium Aeroplan credit cards. Especially when the current welcome offers are particularly enticing like the American Express® Aeroplan®* Reserve Card (up to 150,000 points) or the American Express® Aeroplan®* Business Reserve Card.
Even for the TD® Aeroplan® Visa Infinite Privilege* Card with an Air Canada Buddy Pass and up to 50,000 points.
It is unfortunate, however, that offers to get an Aeroplan Elite status through spending are not available from CIBC and TD for Quebec residents. This is really penalizing for some Aeroplan customers!
We have reached Air Canada, CIBC and TD for more information. No doubt, this is related to Quebec’s consumer protection laws preventing issuers from imposing a volume of spending to get a reward.
That’s why the TD® Aeroplan® Visa Infinite Privilege* Card requires no minimum spending for Quebec residents, unlike the rest of Canada.
