ASW main page

What is ASMALLWORLD?

ASMALLWORLD, also known as ASW, is a luxury travel community and membership platform that brings together travellers from around the world to find inspiration, share experiences, and enjoy travel perks.

The program is designed for those who enjoy smooth and luxurious travel experiences, and it offers a range of perks to facilitate this through its free and paid annual memberships, concierge services, and its travel agency.

The benefits of an ASW membership include:

  • A global community of over 100,000 members in 100 countries
  • Exclusive events where you can meet fellow members and enjoy unique experiences
  • Daily travel inspiration via the ASW editorial blog
  • Hotel perks and special rates/offers via their curated hotel collection
  • A members-only marketplace to list/find jobs, real estate listings, and more

Additionally, and most notably, the paid membership levels come with a range of travel and lifestyle perks, and three of levels come with a healthy stack of loyalty points, thanks to ASW’s partnership with the following programs:

In the sections below, we’ll explore each of the membership levels, their benefits, and the value that’s available through the associated perks.

Joining ASMALLWORLD

Joining ASW is super easy. The program has two levels of free membership available to anyone interested in joining the travel-focused community and enjoying a few of the program’s perks: a basic free membership and a verified free membership. To become a member of ASW, simply go to the ASMALLWORLD website, click “Join,” and provide some basic information to set up your account.

Beyond the free memberships, you’ll find the paid membership tiers (where the perks really kick in) of Premium, Advantage, Concierge, Prestige, and Signature, which we’ll go over just below.

Just be aware that Premium and Concierge memberships renew automatically each year, so if you don’t want to continue, make sure to cancel before your credit card is charged again. Advantage, Prestige, and Signature memberships do not renew automatically, so no need to worry there.

ASMALLWORLD Membership and Benefits

There are 5 paid membership levels and 2 free membership levels. Let’s go over all of them to see which one, if any, fits your travel habits and budget.

Free memberships

ASW’s free memberships are broken into two tiers: verified and unverified. With the basic free membership, you get an initial offering of ASW’s perks, including access to ASW’s community and content, such as the discussion board and editorial blog, the ability to book stays through the ASW hotel collection, and the opportunity to attend exclusive events.

Using the free membership, you can also gain additional access to ASW’s exclusive events and to the ASW marketplace by becoming a verified member. To become a verified member, you can either have an existing community member vouch for you, or you can submit some additional details to the ASW team to confirm your identity.

Once you’re verified, you’ll enjoy the following perks beyond the initial free tier:

  • Ability to post and comment on the discussion board
  • Ability to search for members
  • Option to filter and search events by destination and type
  • Opportunity to post or respond to posts in the ASW marketplace

Paid memberships

As we mentioned, there are 5 paid membership levels, as follows:

The next paid membership level is the Advantage tier. The price of this level takes a notable jump up from the previous Premium level, starting from $816 CAD per year, but the perks also increase significantly.

Are The Points a Good Deal?

Since the most valuable benefit offered through the ASW membership tiers are the piles of miles and points that you can acquire, we think it’s worthwhile exploring whether these are a good deal.

Lufthansa Miles and More

Lufthansa Miles and More miles can be purchased through the airline for as low as 2.09¢ USD each; however, Lufthansa doesn’t sell miles on their own because of Germany’s consumer protection laws. Instead, the airline offers their miles bundled with other benefits to keep themselves on the right side of the law.

The largest bundle includes 100,000 miles and typically costs around $2,800 CDN. At that rate, the 250,000 miles available with a Prestige membership (from $5,720 CAD) would cost roughly $7,000 CDN to buy outright, well above the membership price, on top of everything else that comes with it.

Comparatively, the 35,000 miles available at the Advantage tier (from $816 CAD) would cost around $1,400 CDN to buy directly from Lufthansa, making the membership the better deal.

Also, notably, since you can only purchase a maximum of 250,000 miles per calendar year with Lufthansa directly, the ASW memberships can be a good way to purchase miles above this ceiling if you’ve got your eyes on a bigger redemption.

Turkish Miles & Smiles

Turkish Miles&Smiles miles are generally sold by the airline for 3¢ USD each. The 35,000 miles available at the Advantage tier (from $816 CAD) would cost around $1,050 USD to buy directly, making the ASW membership the cheaper option.

Since Turkish Miles & Smiles limits the number of miles you can purchase to 100,000 per calendar year, it wouldn’t even be possible to outright buy 250,000 miles, but at 3¢ USD each, the math still favours the Prestige membership (from $5,720 CAD).

Similarly, the 500,000 miles available at the Signature level (from $8,584 CAD) would cost roughly $15,000 USD to buy directly, well above the membership price.

Emirates Skywards

Emirates Skywards members can purchase up to 200,000 miles per year (based on their elite status) for 3¢ USD each. It’s also important to note that members have to have earned at least 1 Skywards mile through a partner or by flying to be eligible to purchase.

Comparatively, purchasing miles through an ASW membership is not only cheaper, but it’s easier to access and lets you immediately add up to 195,000 miles to your loyalty wallet.

With an ASW Advantage membership (from $816 CAD), you get 35,000 Skywards miles versus roughly $1,050 USD to purchase directly from Emirates. At the Prestige tier (from $5,720 CAD), you can access 195,000 miles, compared to roughly $5,850 USD to purchase directly from the airline.

Cathay Pacific Asia Miles

Asia Miles generally only sells its miles when you’re booking an award flight, and you already have 70% of the required miles in your account. Given this, being able to add 250,000 miles to your account balance just by signing up for a Prestige membership is a unique, and potentially quite valuable, opportunity.

When you purchase Asia Miles directly from Cathay Pacific, they’re priced at 3¢ USD each. That means 35,000 Asia Miles would cost around $1,050 USD from the airline versus the Advantage tier’s membership fee (from $816 CAD).

Similarly, 250,000 Asia Miles would cost roughly $7,500 USD, compared to the Prestige tier’s starting price of $5,720 CAD.

Marriott Bonvoy

Finally, Marriott Bonvoy sells its points to members for 1.25¢ USD each, and you can generally purchase up to 100,000 per calendar year, though this limit is sometimes raised to 150,000 or 200,000.

With an ASW membership, you can choose 35,000 Bonvoy points at the Advantage tier (from $816 CAD), 250,000 points at the Prestige tier (from $5,720 CAD), or 500,000 points at the Signature tier (from $8,584 CAD).

The cost to purchase these amounts of points directly from Marriott Bonvoy (ignoring the annual limit) would be roughly $437.50 USD, $3,125 USD, and $6,250 USD, respectively.

ASMALLWORLD’s Portfolio of Benefits

Beyond the listed benefits that come with each paid membership tier, ASMALLWORLD also provides a number of other perks.

Hotel Collection

All members of ASW enjoy access to a curated collection of luxury hotels around the world. By booking through the ASW portal, you can enjoy exclusive VIP benefits, such as the following:

  • Free room upgrade (when available)
  • $100 hotel credit for your stay
  • Complimentary breakfast for two
  • Maintain your ability to earn loyalty points with your favourite hotel brands
  • Early check-in and late check-out (when available)

You don’t need a paid membership to browse what’s available: you can look through the ASMALLWORLD Collection for free with a basic account, before deciding if a paid tier is worth it for you.

The hotel collection also provides limited-time special offers like “Stay 4 nights, pay for 3,” letting you enjoy a longer stay for the same price.

Bespoke travel

ASW also houses a travel agency that is designed to build you tailored vacations that suit your style and desires. The agency has strong relationships with top luxury hotels around the world, making it possible to provide you with upgrades and VIP perks at your destinations.

Conveniently, you don’t need to be a member of ASW to use the travel agency services. To access these services, you can simply go to the ASW website, click on “Bespoke,” and then click on “Book With Us.” This will lead you to a contact form with an email address where you can reach out with your request.

Events

As part of ASW’s array of community-based perks, members can purchase tickets to exclusive events around the world. Events have included the US Open tennis tournament, a gala concert with Robbie Williams, hospitality packages for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and more.

Additionally, ASW presents many Ambassador Events each month, where community members can connect at beautiful locations like art galleries, rooftop pools, and restaurants. These events allow members to explore a new place while enjoying food, drink, and conversation.

Editorial blog

All members, including those with unverified free memberships can read through ASW’s English-language editorial blog, which shares helpful articles on exciting travel destinations, industry news and trends, unique activities, and more.

Discussion Board and Marketplace

ASMALLWORLD markets itself as “a trusted community for modern luxury travellers,” so it’s not surprising that another two of the program’s notable features are a discussion board and marketplace.

The discussion board can be viewed by all members, but you do need to have a verified free membership or a paid membership to post, respond, search, and generally interact with the community.

The marketplace is also only available to those with verified free memberships or paid memberships. It’s divided into one section for posting jobs, one for real estate, and one for business discussions.

Additional perks

In addition to the perks listed above and those that come with each specific membership tier, eligible ASW members can also enjoy an array additional benefits. These benefits range from hotel loyalty status to discounts with travel merchants and lifestyle perks.

Each perk comes with its own terms and conditions, including minimum spend amounts, blackout dates, and validity period as some are only available for a limited time. Additionally, new benefits are added occasionally, so it’s a good idea to check back every so often to see what’s available.

The full list of these perks can be found on the ASW website, but to give you an idea of what’s on offer, here are a few examples:

  • Small Luxury Hotels: Complimentary Club 02 membership for Premium, Advantage, and Concierge members; complimentary Club 03 membership for Prestige and Signature members.
  • The Standard Hotels: Up to 25% off eligible stays
  • Grand Hotel des Bains Kempinski: 20% off best available rates (excluding blackout periods)
  • StayOne: Get a €500 concierge credit and complimentary pre-arrival travel planner when you enjoy your first StayOne booking
ASW additional hotel benefits
  • SIXT+: 500 km/miles per month for free with your SIXT+ car subscription
  • Luggage Free: 15% off luggage shipments
  • AwardWallet: 6 months free AwardWallet Plus membership
ASW additional travel service benefits

Is ASW Worth It?

Whether or not it’s worth getting a membership with ASW depends entirely on your travel priorities and budget. If you have a specific trip in mind and can use the perks and points for good value, these memberships can open the door to incredible and luxurious travel experiences.

That said, given the not-insignificant price tag attached to the most bountiful membership tiers, this is not a purchase to be made lightly. We recommend considering how you will use the points and making a plan to ensure you get your money’s worth when you redeem.

It’s unfortunately very difficult for Canadians to earn miles with Turkish Miles & Smiles, Emirates Skywards, and Lufthansa’s Miles and More since none of these programs have available co-branded credit cards. Given this, the points available through the ASW memberships provide a unique opportunity.

Comparatively, it’s considerably easier to earn points with Cathay Pacific Asia Miles and Marriott Bonvoy thanks to co-branded credit cards like the Marriott Bonvoy® American Express®* Card, the Marriott Bonvoy® Business American Express®* Card, and Cathay World Elite® Mastercard – powered by Neo, so you may be able to accumulate all the points/miles you need through daily spending or by transferring points from your American Express Membership Rewards account earned with eligible credit cards.

Ultimately, ASMALLWORLD memberships can provide significant value to the right traveller thanks to the easily accessed miles/points for premium airlines and the diversity of additional benefits.

Bottom Line

ASMALLWORLD not only presents a unique opportunity to acquire an abundance of miles and points alongside valuable travel and lifestyle perks, but it also provides multiple ways for you to connect with like-minded travellers around the world.

We hope that our guide to ASMALLWORLD has helped you better understand what’s available through this program and whether it’s worth exploring further – whether that’s through a paid membership, immediately paving your way to more luxurious travel, or one of the program’s free memberships to test the waters first.
