To the point Let's look at how to use the American Express Annual Travel Credit, one of the benefits of some of the American Express Cards.

American Express Annual Travel Credit - Eligible American Express Cards

American Express Canada offers an Annual Travel Credit for some credit cards:

This travel credit is like a gift every year: you use it to reduce the cost of your reservation. For example, your future $300 hotel room will cost $100, after your $200 travel credit has been applied.

Here’s how to use the Annual Travel Credit from these American Express Cards.

American Express Annual Travel Credit - Definition

The Annual Travel Credit is available immediately when you subscribe to the American Express® Gold Rewards Card the American Express Platinum Card® or the Business Platinum Card® from American Express.

This Annual Travel Credit is then added to your account each year, atthe time of your annual membership renewal.

American Express Annual Travel Credit - Booking Online

You can use this Annual Travel Credit on the American Express Travel website to book:

To use your American Express Annual Travel Credit, you’ll need to visit the American Express online travel agency. Log in to your American Express online account.

Once there, click on Menu / Travel / Book a trip.

This redirects you to the American Express Travel agency. You may need to log in again with your login details. If you’re having trouble and it doesn’t work in French, try in English.

If you have several American Express Cards, you will be asked to select the one you wish to use for your travel booking. Here, for example, I’m using the $100 Annual Travel Credit that comes with the American Express® Gold Rewards Card.

Then, all you have to do is find the trip, hotel, flight or car that suits you best and you can apply your American Express Annual Travel Credit. Here’s an example of a refundable hotel.

Once on the booking page, you’ll need to scroll down and tick the appropriate box to apply your annual American Express travel credit to the amount of your booking.

The Annual Travel Credit that comes with some American Express cards is a benefit to be used yearly. This virtually reduces the cost of your annual membership fee!

How much do I have to earn to get an American Express card?

No minimum income is required to apply for an American Express credit card.

This applies even to premium cards such as the American Express® Gold Rewards Card or the American Express Platinum Card®.

Which is the Best American Express Card?

Do you travel a lot? If so, the American Express Cobalt® Card would be the best with its 5 points per dollar in these establishments.

If you want to collect points for free hotel nights faster, the Marriott Bonvoy® American Express®* Card is the one you need.
