Ultra-low-cost airline Lynx Air began operating in Canada in 2022. Based at Calgary airport, its current network covers Canadian domestic flights as well as a few U.S. destinations.
In September 2023, Lynx Air received the go-ahead to operate flights in Europe and to several sun destinations. Excellent news for Canadian travellers, who will soon be able to cross the Atlantic at lower cost!
This new player will also undoubtedly increase competition and force long-established companies to lower their prices. This phenomenon was observed when another ultra-low-cost carrier, Flair Airlines, launched its Montreal–Vancouver route at prices never seen before.
In all, the Canadian company has recently obtained ten new Canadian Transportation Agency (CTA) licences. Lynx Air will now be able to operate flights between Canada and :

Lynx Air began operations from Calgary in early 2022. The company landed at Montreal’s Pierre-Elliott-Trudeau airport in June 2023 with its inaugural flights to Calgary, St. John’s and Vancouver.

The airline has a fleet of nine Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft. A further 48 aircraft are currently on order and will be delivered over the coming years. Lynx Air intends to further expand its network and become “Canada’s fastest-growing airline”.
