To the point Here are some ideas on how you can quickly build up your Scene+ points, thanks to a few simple everyday habits.

The Scene+ program is one of the fastest-growing loyalty programs in Canada.

It offers various ways to accumulate points that can be used for benefits such as travel, merchandise, gift cards or groceries.

As a general rule, using 1,000 Scene+ points saves you $10!

Here are the 6 best ways to earn Scene+ points every day.

Use a Scotiabank Scene+ Credit Card

It’s the fastest, easiest way to earn points. When you use your Scene+ credit card to pay for everyday expenses at the grocery store, gas station, and other stores you frequent, the points multiply and accumulate all by themselves.

Do your grocery shopping at IGA, Sobeys or Foodland, or go watch a movie at a Cineplex theater, and you’ll get two birds at once! Points add up:

  1. With credit card purchases (1 to 6 points per dollar, depending on the card)
  2. With Scene+ points as a bonus, simply by showing your Scene+ membership card at participating stores.

For example, for a purchase at the IGA grocery store, I accumulated 348 points:

Here are a few credit cards linked to the Scene+ program:

Scotiabank® Scene+™ Visa* Card
  • 2 Scene+ points for every $1 spent at IGA, Sobeys, Safeway, etc.
  • 1 point for every $1 spent on other purchases.
Scotiabank Gold American Express® Card
  • 6 Scene+ points for every $1 spent at IGA, Sobeys, Safeway, etc.
  • 5 Scene+ points for every $1 spent at other grocery stores, restaurants, and entertainment
  • 3 Scene+ points for every $1 spent on transportation and streaming services (Netflix, AppleTV, etc.)
  • 1 point for every $1 spent on other purchases.
Scotiabank Passport® Visa Infinite* Card
  • 3 Scene+ points for every $1 spent at IGA, Sobeys, Safeway, etc.
  • 2 Scene+ points for every $1 spent at other grocery stores, restaurants, entertainment and transportation.
  • 1 point for every $1 spent on other purchases.

Visit Cineplex Cinemas

While eating your popcorn during a movie at a Cineplex theatre, you’ll also be earning Scene+ points.

Buying a movie ticket and food (such as a delicious extra-buttered popcorn, a bag of candy, nachos or a drink) at the concession stand, you’ll be earning Scene+ points.

You get:

  • 5 points/$1 on the purchase of movie tickets at over 160 Cineplex Cinemas across Canada
  • 5 points / $1 on food and beverages at the snack bar

Book a Trip With Scene+ Travel Through Expedia

Since you’re already booking your flight, rental car, all-inclusive trip or hotel, do it through Scene+ Travel by Expedia.

It’s the same as booking on the standard Expedia website, but you’ll earn Scene+ points as a reward.

You earn 3 points for every dollar you spend on travel!

You can even redeem your Scene+ points for travel when paying. For ideas, read our step-by-step tutorial on How to earn and redeem Scene+ points on Expedia.

Eat at These Restaurants

East Side Mario’s, Montana’s, Kelseys, Harvey’s, Bier Markt, Fionn MacCool’s, and Swiss Chalet give 1 point for every $3 spent on eligible food and beverage purchases.

Be sure to check your Scene+ profile often for promotional offers.

For example, I’ve registered for an offer that gives me 15 times more points when I pay for meals at Harvey’s. As a result, my Scene+ account accumulates more points with very little effort.

Don’t forget to pay your bill with your Scotiabank Gold American Express® Card to earn 5 points per dollar spent on your meal.

Sign Up for Promotional Offers Targeted to You

Get into the habit of checking your promotional offers in your Scene+ mobile app or in your profile on the Scene+ website. A few minutes a week to sign-up for special offers will earn you even more points.

Go through the Scene+Rakuten Shopping Portal

A shopping portal is a platform that redirects you to the website of your favorite stores, while thanking you for your visit with rewards for your purchases.

It works very simply:

  • Create an account on Scene+ Rakuten;
  • Access your favorite stores via the portal;
  • Order online as usual;
  • A few days later, your reward will be deposited into your account.

For example, a $100 purchase from an online store with a 10% discount will give you $10 back in your account.

You’ll earn Scene+ points or cash back. The choice is yours!

There are plenty of stores to suit all tastes.
