The 6 best ways to earn Scene+ points quickly

Published May 1, 20265 min readEditorial integrity

The Scene+ program is one of the fastest-growing loyalty programs in Canada.

It offers many ways to earn points that can be used for various benefits such as travel, merchandise, gift cards, or to pay for your groceries.

Generally, using 1,000 Scene+ points saves you $10!

Here are the 6 most advantageous methods to earn Scene+ points daily.

How to Maximize Your Points with Scene+ Credit Cards

This is the fastest and simplest way to earn points. By paying with a Scene+ credit card, daily expenses at the grocery store, gas station, and other businesses you frequent often, points multiply and accumulate automatically.

Do your grocery shopping at IGA, Sobeys, or Foodland, or see a movie at Cineplex Cinemas and you will double your points! Points will accumulate:

With purchases made on the credit card (1 to 6 points per dollar, depending on the card)
With bonus Scene+ points, simply by showing your Scene+ membership card at participating retailers

For example, for a purchase at IGA, I earned 348 points:

208 Scene+ points thanks to payment via my Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite +* Card
140 Scene+ points because I showed my Scene+ membership card at the IGA checkout when purchasing products that award Scene+ points

Here are some credit cards linked to the Scene+ program:

Scotiabank^® Scene+^™ Visa* Card	2 Scene+ points for every $1 spent at IGA, Sobeys, Safeway, etc. 1 point for every $1 spent on other purchases.
Scotiabank Gold American Express^® Card	6 Scene+ points for every $1 spent at IGA, Sobeys, Safeway, etc. 5 Scene+ points for every $1 spent at other grocery stores, restaurants, and entertainment 3 Scene+ points for every $1 spent on transportation and streaming services (Netflix, AppleTV, etc.) 1 point for every $1 spent on other purchases.
Scotiabank Passport^™ Visa Infinite +* Card	3 Scene+ points for every $1 spent at IGA, Sobeys, Safeway, etc. 2 Scene+ points for every $1 spent at other grocery stores, restaurants, entertainment, and transportation 1 point for every $1 spent on other purchases.
Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite Privilege Card	3 Scene+ points for every $1 spent via Scene+ Travel 2 Scene+ points for every $1 spent at restaurants and for entertainment 1 point for every $1 spent on other purchases.

Book a trip with Scene+ Travel powered by Expedia

While you’re booking your flight, rental car, all-inclusive trip, or hotel, do it on Scene+ Travel powered by Expedia.

It’s the same as booking on the standard Expedia website, but you also get Scene+ points as a reward.

Thus, you earn 3 points per dollar spent on travel!

You can even use your Scene+ points to deduct from a trip when making payment. For ideas, read our step-by-step tutorial on How to Earn and Redeem Scene+ Points on Expedia.

Eat at these restaurants

East Side Mario’s, Montana’s, Kelseys, Harvey’s, Bier Markt, Fionn MacCool’s, and Swiss Chalet restaurants award 1 point for every $3 spent on eligible food and beverages.

In your Scene+ member profile, regularly check your promotional offers.

For example, I registered an offer that gives me 15 times more points when I pay for meals at Harvey’s. This way, my Scene+ account accumulates more points with very little effort.

Don’t forget to pay your bill with the Scotiabank Gold American Express^® Card to add 5 points per dollar spent on your meal.

1 Offer Description and Conditions: The 50,000 Scene+ points offer (the « Offer ») applies only to new Scotiabank Gold American Express credit card accounts (the « Accounts ») opened between July 2, 2026, and November 1, 2026 (regardless of the date you apply for the account), subject to the conditions below. All other program terms and conditions continue to apply during the Offer period. Make it a habit to check your promotional offers in your Scene+ mobile app or in your profile on the Scene+ website. A few moments each week to register for special offers will earn you more points.

Furthermore, to make your life easier, we regularly update our article on the best offers to save and earn even more Scene+ points.

Use the Scene+Rakuten shopping portal

A shopping portal is a platform that redirects you to the website of your favorite stores, while rewarding you for your purchases.

It works very simply:

Create an account on Scene+ Rakuten;
Access your favorite stores via the portal;
Place your order online as usual
A few days later, your reward will be deposited into your account.

For example, a $100 purchase at an online store with a 10% cashback will give you $10 back in your account.

You will earn Scene+ points or cash back. It’s your choice!

There are many stores to suit all tastes.

Check Rakuten regularly as cashback rates are very often increased during promotional periods!

Conclusion

The Scene+ program offers several ways to earn points, whether through your everyday purchases, movie outings, or travel.

Knowing all this and in combination with a Scene+ credit card, your points balance will increase much faster.

And what to do with your immense stash of Scene+ points afterwards? Use them to pay for your groceries at IGA and its other grocery stores. Or, read our tutorial on how to use your Scene+ points to save on a trip.

This is the best way to reward yourself, in our opinion!

If an additional cardholder makes the transaction that reaches the eligible purchase threshold for the 25,000 bonus points, or the annual points bonus, the bonus points will be credited to the Scene+ account linked to the primary borrower’s account. It is possible to transfer points between the Scene+ accounts of a primary borrower, a co-borrower or an additional cardholder by contacting Scene+. An account is in good standing if it is not past due, there is no over-limit, and the cardholder(s) have complied with the terms of the Revolving Credit Agreement that applies to the account.
