To the point Find your flights with points easily and quickly using Roame, an intuitive tool to simplify your travel planning.

In a world where travel is increasingly accessible thanks to the accumulation of credit card points and airline miles, Roame has established itself as an essential solution for quickly finding availability and good prices.

In this guide, discover everything Roame has to offer: its features, benefits, subscriptions, and tips to optimise its use for your travel plans.

1 Roame intro

What is Roame?

Roame is a platform designed to help people find available flights with points. With a focus on the customer experience, it stands out for several reasons:

  • An intuitive user interface, inspired by Google Flights and Kayak, offering fluid navigation, ideal even for beginners.
  • Real-time searches across multiple loyalty programs, guaranteeing accurate, up-to-date results.
  • Extended compatibility with popular programs such asAeroplan, Flying Blue and Avios.
  • Integration of transfer options between partner companies, simplifying the planning of complex itineraries. However, the credit card programs available are currently limited to the US market.
  • Greater accessibility for Canadians, with full integration of programs such as Aeroplan and Flying Blue. Roame also makes it possible to find Oneworld flights via Iberia Plus or programs such as AAdvantage and Alaska Mileage Plan, offering the possibility of using your miles or Avios strategically, notably with British Airways Executive Club.

Roame ‘s mission is to simplify your travel planning with points and maximize their value without too much headache.

One of the main advantages of Roame is its compatibility with numerous loyalty programs, giving users the opportunity to maximize their points and miles. Roame simplifies the management and optimization of rewards, whether you’re a member of Aeroplan, Flying Blue or another popular program.

Roame currently supports 19 airline loyalty programs, allowing you to check the availability of your rewards for over 200 airlines.

Here is a list of supported programs:

  • Iberia Plus Avios
  • JetBlue TrueBlue
  • Qantas Frequent Flyer
  • SAS EuroBonus
  • Free Spirit
  • Turkish Airlines Miles
  • United Airlines MileagePlus
  • Virgin Australia Velocity
  • Virgin Atlantic Flying Club

Roame continues to add new programs to its platform on a regular basis to enrich your award flight search experience.

Roame's Main Features

Under the “Flights” tab, you’ll find three options:

  • Live Search: allows you to search for flights in real time, with results identical to those displayed directly on airline websites.
  • SkyView: performs regular searches on the 6,500 most popular routes and saves the results, giving you instant access to a panoramic view of the results. You can search over several months, or between different regions, countries or continents.
  • Discover: a page featuring several “bargains” identified by Roame.

Roame allows you to search for award flights up to 365 days in advance, covering economy (regular and privilege), business and first class. Searches, whether simple or complex involving numerous routes and frequent flyer programs, are carried out in a similar way to Google Flights and load very quickly compared to their competitors.

Tip: Use filters to customize your searches, such as segment length, travel class or device type.

Analyzing the results of the Aeroplan program can sometimes require special attention, as some offers include transfer promotions that are not available to Canadian users.

For example, the screenshot below shows a 25,000-point Aeroplan route.

However, this offer is reserved for US users who have the option of transferring their Ultimate Rewards points from Chase (a US credit card). Even if you disable this card in the filters, the results displayed will still include the transfer promotion if there’s one running. It’s not a big inconvenience, but just something to keep in mind when comparing prices.

2 Roame transfert bonus 1

This advantageous pricing is the result of a 20% transfer promotion in effect at the time of writing. Without this transfer promotion, the actual cost of this itinerary would be 30,000 points, as shown just below.

4 Roame result explications

Tip: By clicking on “Transfer”, you’ll be redirected to a page where Roame will guide you step-by-step through the process of transferring your points.

I did a quick check of this option directly on the Air Canada website to confirm its accuracy. It is also important to note that the taxes and fees displayed on Roame are expressed in U.S. dollars. This should be taken into account to avoid any confusion when evaluating costs with this tool.

5 Roame Aeroplan vrai résultat

It is also important to note that Roame does not display the preferential rates available to holders of a co-branded Aeroplan credit cards. These rates, which are often more advantageous, may differ slightly from those presented by Roame.

6 Roame Aeroplan tarif préférentiel

I also particularly like the ability to see at a glance which segments are in economy class and which are in business class, without having to click on them or open a new window.

For example, a YUL-EWR-NRT itinerary could be presented as a mixed cabin in business class, with the short segment between Montreal and New York in business class, as illustrated in the first result of the following screenshot. However, the long 12-hour segment between New York and Tokyo would be in economy class. Obviously, when you opt for business class, you expect the longest segment, or ideally the whole trip, to be in business class.

7 Roame classe mixte

The option of filtering according to the percentage of the trip you are prepared to accept in mixed cabin is particularly interesting. It’s important to remember that you’re paying the business class fare, whether for a short segment or for most or all of the journey.

The addition of this filter to Roame is a great added value, allowing for a more efficient search. This feature works perfectly, and I really appreciate being able to analyze my options quickly, without getting my hopes up!

8 Roame mixted class

Roame is a powerful tool, but it does have some limitations to consider. For example, it is not possible to search for several specific airports simultaneously, although a search by region is offered, which may be restrictive for some users.

Finally, the points costs displayed sometimes include U.S. transfer promotions not applicable to Canadians, which can be confusing. The absence of filters for Canadian transfer partners, and the inability to take transfer or exchange rates into account, also complicates comparison between programs.

However, if you find a flight that perfectly matches your criteria thanks to Roame but don’t have the necessary points or transferable points, you may want to consider buying points. This option can sometimes be more advantageous than paying for your flight in cash.

SkyView

SkyView offers a panoramic view of flight availability over 60 days, ideal for identifying the best travel opportunities. This tool is particularly useful for families or travellers who are flexible in their dates and destinations.

  • The tool searches millions of routes daily to detect all available flight opportunities with points.
  • Roame allows you to search for flexible flights according to available points (with filters) and defined periods.
  • You can search by region.

SkyView results are not updated in real time. You can check how long ago this data was recorded by consulting the information below the flight date on the left. In addition, some users have reported cases of “phantom space”, where flights appear as available, but are not actually available when booked.

Here’s an example of SkyView for flights between Montreal and Europe covering the entire summer period. This tool is especially useful for families wishing to identify the ideal time to travel at lower cost with their points!

9 Roame Skyview

In this example, I have selected two rewards programs, Aeroplan and Flying Blue, and Roame sorted the results according to the number of points required.

However, not all points have the same value. For example, 20,000 Flying Blue miles may seem more advantageous than 30,000 Aeroplan points, but it’s all the same, mainly because of the differences in the transfer ratios for American Express Membership Rewards Points.

It is therefore important to compare programs beyond the simple number of points before booking.

With the SkyView option, you can also view the most advantageous dates in points based on your preferences, making it easier to find the best prices quickly.

Customized Alerts

Personalized alerts from Roame are designed to inform you of the best opportunities matching your specific criteria.

To create an alert on Roame log in to your account, access the SkyView tab, define your search criteria (departure and arrival cities, travel class, dates, etc.), then activate the “Save as Alert” option with a single click. You’ll then receive e-mail notifications as soon as a flight matching your preferences becomes available. This feature is distinguished by its simplicity: there’s no need to manually enter each piece of information, and a range of dates counts as a single alert (rather than one alert per date).

For example, in the following screenshot, I’ve set up an alert to be notified when a flight between Montreal and Tokyo, in business class with at least 65% of the journey in business class, for less than 100,000 Aeroplan points, with less than $200 in fees, and a maximum of two stopovers, becomes available between April 23 and May 18.

10 Roame alertes

Thanks to these notifications, you’re immediately informed when an interesting opportunity arises, allowing you to secure coveted award tickets before they’re gone. This responsiveness is essential and makes this tool a must-have for people who want to stay on top of things in real time. Roame performs several searches a day (every 1 to 6 hours, depending on routes), unlike other tools, maximizing your chances of never missing an offer.

Discover

The Discover tab in Roame is a great tool for those who are flexible or looking for inspiration. It lets you search for award flights from an airport designated as your point of departure, while applying filters according to your preferences, such as class of travel or frequent flyer program (e.g. Aeroplan, Flying Blue, Avios, etc.).

A desirable improvement would be the addition of further filters to further refine searches and meet people’s specific needs.

Roame Tools

Under the “Tools” tab you’ll find the following pages:

  • Wallet: Provides an overview of all your points balances, centralizing various loyalty programs and credit cards (American) in one place.
  • Credit cards : Roame offers credit cards, but only for American cards.

Roame allows you to connect multiple loyalty programs to a single account, centralizing all your information in one place. Whether you use Aeroplan, Flying Blue or other programs, you can easily keep track of your balances, transactions and important deadlines. This feature is particularly useful for those juggling multiple programs, enabling them to make informed decisions without having to consult each platform individually.

Regarding credit cards, only US cards can currently be added to the tool. However, I appreciate the feature that allows me to quickly view all the credit cards in my wallet: the total amount of annual fees, subscription dates, bonus progress, and much more. It’s an excellent way to have a clear and efficient overview.

Advantages and Limitations

Roame offers many advantages to optimize your search for award flights:

  • It saves considerable time thanks to rapid, centralized searches across multiple loyalty programs.
  • Advanced customization lets you refine your results with detailed filters for travel classes, number of points required, taxes and fees, or mixed cabin segments.
  • Reactive alerts are easy to set up and send real-time notifications to seize the best opportunities.
  • Flexible searches let you explore options without being limited to direct flights only.

Despite its many advantages, Roame has a few limitations to consider:

  • The multi-airport search is restricted, not allowing you to select specific airports, but only regions.
  • Displayed promotions are geographically limited, reserved for U.S. credit card holders.
  • Avios points management remains partial. For example, to book Oneworld flights with your points, you need to use Iberia Plus, as British Airways Executive Club is not supported. Other partner programs, such as AAdvantage or Alaska Mileage Plan, also offer this possibility. Although flight availability is easy to check, the number of points required may vary according to the currencies used by each program.

What Sets Roame Apart from Its Competitors

Roame stands out with its simple and streamlined interface, offering an accessible and intuitive user experience, as it closely resembles popular flight search engines like Google Flights, Kayak, or SkyScanner. Unlike some competitors with complex or technical tools, this simplicity particularly appeals to beginners and those looking for smooth and, most importantly, fast navigation!

Indeed, the speed of results is one of the main advantages. By focusing on key programs such as Aeroplan or Flying Blue, Roame provides real-time results while maintaining a high level of quality. This efficiency is crucial for users who want to save time.

With advanced features like SkyView, Roame enables an extended search over a 60-day period. This option, rarely matched by other tools, offers greater flexibility, still delivers reliable results and meets the needs of people looking for the best opportunities over an extended period.

In terms of pricing, Roame offers excellent value, particularly with its “Friends of Roame” subscription. Where comparable tools are often more expensive, Roame combines quality and affordability.

In addition to its high-performance features Roame offers newsletters customized to your preferences, keeping you informed of the best opportunities for you.

Having personally tested and evaluated several premium availability search tools (such as Point.me, AwardFares, Seats.Aero and ExpertFlyer), I migrated to Roame for its intuitive interface and its speed in delivering reliable, real-time results, presented in a clear and easy-to-analyze manner. While Roame isn’t yet perfect – partly because of the lack of integration with Canadian credit card and points transfer programs – in my opinion, it comes very close.

The free subscription is ideal for beginners, while experienced users will appreciate the “Friends of Roame” subscription, which offers excellent value for money in terms of time saved.
