BMO Rewards is BMO’s loyalty program. Several BMO credit cards are part of this program:
Until now, the best use of BMO Rewards points was through the BMO Rewards portal to book travel. You could use 15,000 points to get $100 off your travel purchase:
This was something restrictive compared to other rewards programs that allow points to be applied, at the same redemption rate, for any travel booked with the card.
Now, as of August 2, 2022, you can book your travel anywhere you want with your BMO Rewards credit card. Then apply your points to that expense at the same conversion level: 15,000 points = $100.
All you have to do is book your flight, hotel night or car rental with any travel booking site(Expedia, Booking, Marriott, Hilton, Holiday Autos, Auto Europe, etc.).
In the spring of 2022, BMO offered this option on a temporary basis. Here is an example with a hotel booked through Expedia (with a fully refundable reservation in case of cancellation of the stay).
The expense appears in the Pay with BMO Points option:
Within the next 30 days, all you have to do is indicate the number of points you wish to use. Here, I redeem all my BMO points:
Then a confirmation of the BMO points redemption is displayed indicating that the transaction was successful:
A few days later, a statement credit will appear on your credit card account, corresponding to the redemption of BMO Rewards points for your travel:

Your purchases must be made at merchants that are classified as: airlines, car rental agencies, hotels/resorts, cruise lines, passenger railways, timeshares, travel agencies and tour operators.
