Would you like a Visa credit card earning 5 points per dollar at many stores for a lower annual fee? Check out this offer for the BMO eclipse Visa Infinite Card!
The bonus unlocks in three tiers of cumulative spending. Each tier has its own deadline:
With this Card, you can earn 5 BMO Rewards points per dollar spent on:
And 1 BMO Rewards point per dollar spent everywhere else.
The BMO eclipse Visa Infinite Privilege* Card is aimed at the more mature traveller!
Note that unlike the BMO eclipse Visa Infinite* card, the Visa Infinite Privilege version allows you to accumulate 5 points per dollar for travel and pharmacy purchases (excluding the local transportation category).
Groceries, gas, home food delivery, restaurants and bars are maintained at 5 points per dollar. That’s a lot of 5x categories!
So, if you use your points earned through all these purchases for travel, that means a return of 3.33%! It’s very rare that a credit card offers more than 3% for travel or even drugstore purchases!
If you add an authorized user to your account, you will earn 25% more points.
This means you will earn 6.25 points per dollar in bonus categories (groceries, gas, pharmacies, travel, restaurants, bars, home food delivery). This represents a return equivalent to 4.17% if you use your points for travel purchases through BMO Rewards.
The additional card fee is $99. Therefore, at least $11,000 per year will be needed to justify the addition of the additional card. And if you spend more, you’ll get more value!
The $75,000 in purchases that unlocks the full bonus also earns base points. Here, the 5-points-per-dollar categories cover groceries, gas, pharmacies, travel, restaurants, and meal delivery. That range is broad enough to absorb most of a large budget.
Here’s an example breakdown over one year, with 72% of spending in the 5-points categories:
Then add the welcome bonus. Redeemed for travel, 150 points are worth $1. Here’s the full picture for the first year:
Against these $3,273 in points, the annual fee is $599. The $200 annual credit brings the net cost down to $399. Add to that 6 airport lounge passes and a NEXUS credit of up to $200 in the first year.
You can use your BMO Rewards points in many ways:
Let’s analyze the two most common uses of BMO Rewards points.
To use your BMO Rewards points for travel, you can visit the BMO Rewards platform. You can redeem BMO Rewards points for different types of trips:
The rate is similar to what you might find with other online travel agencies.
But be aware that you can now also book with any travel provider and get the same value from your BMO Rewards points.
Using BMO Rewards points for travel is the best use of your points: 150 points = $1. So 120,000 points are worth $800.
For example, if you spend $3,000 per month in the 5-point-per-dollar categories with the BMO eclipse Visa Infinite Privilege Card* (groceries, pharmacy, restaurants and bars, home food delivery, gas, travel), you will earn 15,000 points per month, worth $100 for travel.
Over the course of a year, that’s nearly $1,200 you can earn this way! Enough to pay for a flight or several hotel nights!
And 25% more when you add an additional card to the account.
Please note that you can also use your BMO Rewards points for any purchase made on your card, starting from $1!
Here, 200 points = $1. So 40,000 points have a $200 value.
In terms of insurance, the BMO eclipse Visa Infinite Privilege Card* includes:
The BMO eclipse Visa Infinite Privilege* Card comes with a $200 annual credit that you can use as you wish.
That helps put the $599 annual fee in the first year into perspective. This card also comes with 6 Priority Pass airport lounge passes, representing a value of more than $200 per year.
With the BMO eclipse Visa Infinite Privilege Card*, you benefit from 6 annual accesses to DragonPass member VIP lounges.
In Montreal, for example, you can access the National Bank Lounge or the Air France Lounge.
In Quebec City, at the Club Med VIP Lounge, in Calgary at the WestJet Elevation Lounge, or in one of the many Plaza Premium lounges elsewhere in Canada.
Effective December 15, 2025, you can receive a reimbursement for NEXUS application fees worth up to $200. However, this credit is only applicable during your first year as a cardholder.
To do this, simply charge your BMO eclipse Visa Infinite Privilege Card* membership or renewal fees to your NEXUS program. You will then see this credit appear on your credit card account.
With the BMO eclipse Visa Infinite Privilege Card*, you benefit from various advantages reserved for Visa Infinite Privilege credit card holders:
And that’s not counting the other Visa Infinite Privilege benefits such as priority airport security screening, dedicated taxi and limousine services, exclusive dining and wine experiences, VIP benefits at luxury hotels and more.
We’ve been following the eclipse lineup since launch, and we test both versions with our own purchases. The screenshots above come from real accounts.
What really sets the BMO eclipse Visa Infinite Privilege Card* apart isn’t the multiplier, which is the same at 5 points per dollar. It’s the breadth of categories: travel and pharmacies are included, which is rare at this rate in Canada.
On the other hand, the $599 annual fee and the $150,000 income requirement shut a lot of people out. And above all, the full bonus requires $75,000 in spending in one year. So this card is for a specific profile, not the general public.
Our calculations are based on three consistent rules. First, we value BMO Rewards points at 0.67 cents, i.e., the travel redemption rate on BMO’s portal (150 points = $1). Next, we only count benefits actually received during the first year. Finally, we always compare the value of the points to the real annual fee.
The earning table starts from a specific profile: $75,000 in annual spending, with 72% in the 5-points categories. That amount corresponds to the third bonus tier. If your volume is lower, remove the tiers you won’t reach before comparing.
Also, the offer terms come from BMO. Our analyses remain independent of the commercial agreements we have with issuers.

The BMO eclipse Visa Infinite Privilege* Card is great for everyday expenses like groceries or food delivery.
In this sense, being able to earn 5 points per dollar on these types of purchases with a Visa card (accepted almost everywhere), for an effective return of more than 3.33%, is particularly interesting.
The addition of an annual credit applicable to any purchase (not just travel like other credit cards), is a way of virtually lowering the annual fee for loyal customers.
In the second year, the annual fee returns to $399 for the BMO eclipse Visa Infinite Privilege* Card (once the $200 credit is deducted). This can allow you to enjoy the benefits of a Visa Infinite Privilege credit card at a reduced cost!
The BMO eclipse Visa Infinite* Privilege Card requires a minimum individual income of $150,000 or a minimum household income of $200,000.
