ITA Airways is launching a status match offer with 19 airlines, and the only Canadian airline included is WestJet. The offer is valid from July 16 to August 19, 2024.
Here is the Volare status (ITA AIrways program) to which you will be entitled if you have a WestJet Rewards status:
To get this status match, you must:
The status will thus be recognized within 60 days of the date of application. Your status will then be valid until the end of 2024. What’s more, if your status match is accepted, you’ll receive 10,000 Volare qualification points as a gift.
We’ve left WestJet’s latest (now expired) status match offer as a reference only.
The WestJet Rewards program offers you the opportunity to match your Aeroplan or VIPorter status by completing two challenges. Completing the first challenge will give you status until June 30, 2023, and completing the second challenge will extend your status until December 31, 2023.
To qualify for the WestJet Rewards Platinum level, you must provide proof of your Aeroplan Super Elite or VIPorter First status.
To qualify for the WestJet Rewards Gold level, you must provide proof of one of the following statuses:
To qualify for the WestJet Rewards Silver level, you must provide proof of one of the following statuses:
The process for equivalency of status is quite simple. The form must be completed and submitted by April 30, 2023 with the following information:
Once the application is submitted, the approval process can take up to 10 business days.
Update: Here is the response when the application is approved:
Challenge 1 will allow you to enjoy your Gold, Silver or Platinum level benefits until June 30, 2023. If you want to extend these benefits, go to Challenge 2.
Once WestJet Rewards has validated your concurrent status, you will have access to the benefits of status with WestJet until June 30, 2023.
If you want to extend this status until the end of 2023, you must travel at least once with WestJet before June 30, 2023.
But that’s not all, you will also need to reach a certain level of spending to maintain your assigned status:
This represents approximately 25% of the amount of recognized annual expenses required to maintain status.
Qualifying spend is 100% of the amount spent on eligible published base fares for WestJet-marketed flights flown by the member within a qualifying year.
The following items are not included in recognized expenses: Base fares, Member Exclusive fares, contract fares, tour operator fares, WestJet Vacations group bookings, flights marketed by partners, partner bookings made on westjet.com, taxes, fees and surcharges, any portion paid with WestJet dollars and any other program rewards.
Completing both challenges is the most lucrative option as it will allow you to keep your status until December 31, 2023!
If you currently hold WestJet Rewards status, now is the time to get a status match with ITA Airways and its Volare program.
WestJet recently acquired Sunwing, and the airline has also formed a partnership with the Flying Blue rewards program. The airline also recently announced partnerships with Condor Airlines and Virgin Atlantic, among others.
