To the point My European SIM from Bouygues Telecom is a SIM card - which also exists in eSIM format - ideal for travellers moving around Europe!

Bouygues Telecom has introduced a prepaid offer, My European SIM for traveling in France and Europe that allows you to stay connected with your loved ones while traveling. Let’s look at the details of the offer.

Bouygues Telecom

When you want to call to or from abroad, it can sometimes be very expensive. You must shop around to find the best mobile plan for traveling abroad.

Bouygues Télécom is one of France’s incumbent telecom network operators alongside SFR and Orange, and one of the most successful in France and Europe in terms of growth.

Before ordering your My European SIM card, let’s have a look at how to use it in France and Europe and how much it would cost you.

What is the My European SIM card?

My European SIM is a prepaid card that can be used in France and Europe, with an even more generous offer from May 23, 2023, with:

  • 30 GB of 4G/LTE broadband Internet (including connection sharing),
  • unlimited calls and SMS in France and Europe,
  • 25 euros for calls and SMS to international numbers and France overseas (about $35 CAD).

The service is valid for 30 days after first use in 53 countries!

Your SIM/eSIM card is valid for 12 months. You will need to identify your line to Customer Services (service in French and available by dialing 634), in which case the line will be terminated within 30 days of the first connection.

You will need to provide your phone number, name and address. You may be asked for your passport or identity card number.

Who is the My European SIM card for?

In our opinion, the My European SIM card is ideal for people who want to make several trips a year to France or Europe, whether they are tourists, business people or even digital nomads. digital nomads like our editorial team!

No interest in a ten days trip as it will always be more economical to choose a package locally.

How do you get your My European SIM card?

Make your order online at this link and choose the delivery method:

  • in one of Bouygues télécom’s 500 stores or 50,000 local outlets (tobacconists, newsagents, etc.).
  • to your hotel
  • directly to an address in France or abroad,
  • digitalized by Email if you request the eSIM.

What are the shipping costs of the SIM card for Canada?

Delivery costs vary from one country/continent to another. For Canada, My European SIM is delivered by UPS in 2 to 4 working days at a cost of €39.04, which is very expensive!

I suggest in this case:

  • or order the eSIM to receive it by email,
  • or choose the pick-up option at 3,55 €, available at Paris CDG Airport. Two locations are available, open Monday to Sunday from 6 am to 9:30 pm.

The eSIM is an environmentally friendly choice and allows for immediate use.

How to activate your My European SIM card ?

Activation is easy, and installation is immediate. Once in Europe, to use it, simply insert the My European SIM card into your phone and start enjoying the offer. You will receive a SMS with your phone number.

How to activate your My European eSIM card?

The eSim card is an online SIM card purchased directly online. You’ll receive an email with a QR code that you’ll need to scan when adding your new cell phone plan in the settings. It can therefore be programmed remotely from anywhere in the world.

Once activated, it operates in the same way as a physical SIM card and requires you to go to the Bouygues Telecom website and follow the process. You will need to select this package in the settings as the main one once you arrive in Europe to use it.

A hotline is available to help you register your card from Europe on +336 68 634 634 (voice service in French).

What does the My European SIM box contain and for what price?

When you receive the My European SIM box, it includes:

  • a user guide in 10 languages and digitalized,
  • souvenir stickers,
  • a map of the Paris metro,
  • an Eject SIM Eiffel Tower,
  • a SIM card and its souvenir key ring,
  • a tourist guide and its application,
  • suggestions for activities and discounts!

All for 39,90 €.

How to know the remaining balance on the SIM card?

Only one number, 630. You will be directed to a voice server in French that will tell you the balance used and remaining on your My European SIM card . Otherwise, log in to your online customer account.

Can I recharge my SIM card ?

Yes, online on the partner site Topengo by choosing the equivalent package: “XL prepaid card”.

How to contact or be contacted?

To contact a correspondent abroad, you just have to dial “00” or “+” then the country code of the operator. For example, you will need to dial 001 or +1 for Canada and then the number of your contact without the 0 prefix.

The number of your correspondent is French? You just have to dial the number without the area code.

Finally, to reach you, the correspondents will have to dial: 0033 or +33 and your telephone number, without the prefix 0.

Use in France and Europe

In France and from Europe, your calls, SMS, and messages are unlimited with this card, and you now have 30 GB of mobile Internet.

You can rest easy, whether you’re in France or Europe, with roaming : you won’t have to pay extra to make calls or write to your loved ones, thanks to agreements between Bouygues Télécom and its local telecoms partners, but also with the intervention of the European Union in 2017.

With the SIM card, Bouygues Télécom offers coverage in 53 countries:

Azores, Andorra, England, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Corfu, Crete, Croatia, Cyclades, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Greenland, Guernsey, Hungary, Balearic Islands, Aland Islands, Rhodes Island, Canary Islands, Faroe Islands, Scotland, Spain, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Madeira, Malta, Isle of Man, Netherlands, Norway, Wales, Poland, Portugal, Czech Republic, Romania, Sardinia, Sicily, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Vatican City, Wight (Isle of).

Beware of borders with countries not included in the list, as all calls will be counted as out-of-plan. The most classic example is Switzerland, which is not included in the list of countries covered.

Use abroad

The €25 credit is available for international and DOM calls from mainland France. Count 50 minutes for fixed or mobile calls to Canada (0.5 €/min).

If you exceed your credit, you are out of the plan. Check the cost according to the destination on the Bouygues Telecom website, which can range from:

  • 1 to 4 €/min of call made,
  • 0.5 to 2 €/min of received call and
  • 0.30 to 0.65 €/SMS.

We’ll have to be very careful with data from outside Europe!

We advise you to activate the free mobile option “Out of bundle SMS alert”, accessible from your online account in order to receive an out of bundle alert or to deactivate the roaming as soon as you know that you will be outside Europe and that your credit is finished.
