A few weeks after announcing new flights to Florida, Porter Airlines continues to grow and expand its North American network, introducing two new round-trip routes from Toronto’s Pearson International Airport (YYZ) to two cities in California: Los Angeles (LAX ) and San Francisco (SFO). These routes will start on January 16 and January 25, 2024, respectively.
Here is detailed information for each route:
These two new routes will be served by Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, offering 132 seats in economy class only in a two-by-two configuration. PorterReserve fares can also be booked for seats with extra legroom, meals and pre-mixed cocktails.
The upside of Porter’s economy class is the free Wi-Fi connection, as well as a selection of snacks, beer and wine; options that usually require additional charges on board other airlines.
Porter also announces the addition of a daily return flight betweenOttawa International Airport (YOW) and Edmonton International Airport (YEG), also using Embraer E195-E2 aircraft.
This route will improve connectivity by offering connections between the East Coast and Ottawa, such as Newark and Boston.
“We’re continuing to expand our Western Canada network and this new route connects travellers with many of our well-established Eastern Canada destinations,” said Kevin Jackson, executive vice president and chief commercial officer. “With our elevated approach to service, passengers enjoy every step of their journey when they fly with Porter.”
This new route joins 11 other non-stop services from Ottawa, including Vancouver, Toronto-Pearson, Victoria, Calgary, Edmonton and Winnipeg.
This news follows Porter’s service expansion plan, with the first routes to the western United States. After ordering 50 new Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, Porter will expand its services to include the following regions over the next few years:
Here’s some news from the past few months that bears witness to this expansion:
Its loyalty program, VIPorter, has also been improved and is becoming increasingly competitive after offering status match with Aeroplan and WestJet Rewards during the year.
Residents of Toronto and surrounding areas will soon have more and more options for visiting the U.S., while those in Ottawa will have easier access to Western Canada, and those in Edmonton will have one more option for visiting New York and Boston.
Finally, the construction of a new terminal at Montreal Saint-Hubert Airport (YHU ) announced in February 2023 will be one to watch, as it will serve Porter flights.
