To the point For a limited time, you can convert your Marriott Bonvoy points into Aeroplan points with a 15% bonus.

From October 1 to October 31, 2024, you can convert your Marriott Bonvoy points into Aeroplan points with a 15% bonus.

A minimum of 3,000 Marriott Bonvoy Points must be converted in a single transaction into Aeroplan Points to be eligible for this Offer. The maximum amount that can be converted in a single 24-hour period is 240,000 Marriott Bonvoy Points.

Here is an example of conversion:

Convert 30,000 Marriott Bonvoy points 60,000 Marriott Bonvoy points
Earn 10,000 Aeroplan Points 20,000 Aeroplan Points
Marriott Bonvoy Bonus 5,000 Aeroplan points
15% Aeroplan Bonus 1,500 Aeroplan points 3,000 Aeroplan points
Total 11,500 Aeroplan points 28,000 Aeroplan points

As you can see, the most interesting thing is to convert 60,000 Marriott Bonvoy points since you will be able to get 5,000 bonus points from both Marriott Bonvoy and Aeroplan.

It had been 2022 since a similar promotion had been offered. Prior to that, there hadn’t been one since at least the release of the new Aeroplan program in 2020.

So this is a rare opportunity to transfer your Marriott Bonvoy points, if you don’t know what to do with them and think they’d be more useful as Aeroplan points.

To transfer your Marriott points to Aeroplan points, follow the instructions on the Marriott general page to convert your points. Bonus points will be credited to your Aeroplan account within 8 to 10 weeks after October 31, 2024.

To convert or not to convert?

This promotion will therefore be aimed at those who have Marriott Bonvoy points but find the Aeroplan program more interesting.

But remember: a hotel room can be shared between several travellers, which is not the case for an airplane seat! With 60,000 Marriott Bonvoy points, you could get up to 12 nights at select hotels worldwide for an entire family! Or 2-3 nights in many hotels in North America.

While 30,000 Aeroplan points could get you one round-trip economy flight to select North American destinations.
