From October 1 to 31, 2025, you can convert your Marriott Bonvoy points into Aeroplan points with a 15% bonus.
Normally, the transfer rate is generally 3:1 (30,000 Marriott points = 10,000 Aeroplan points). And for every 60,000 points transferred, Marriott adds a bonus of 5,000 Aeroplan points.
To take advantage of this offer, you must convert a minimum of 3,000 Marriott Bonvoy points to Aeroplan points in a single transaction. A maximum of 240,000 Marriott Bonvoy points can be converted within a 24-hour period.
Here is an example of conversion:
As you can see, the most advantageous option is to convert in increments of 60,000 Marriott Bonvoy points, as you can get a bonus of 5,000 Aeroplan points.
This only happens once a year! This is a rare opportunity to transfer your Marriott Bonvoy points if you’re not sure how to use them and think they’d be more valuable as Aeroplan points.
To transfer your Marriott points to Aeroplan points, follow the instructions on the Marriott page to convert your points. Bonus points will be credited to your Aeroplan account 8 to 10 weeks after October 31, 2025.
In Canada, you can earn Aeroplan points with many credit cards:
Here is a selection:
In addition to credit cards, Aeroplan points can be earned through a wide range of activities: purchases with the eStore, flights with Air Canada and its partners, promotions with Air Canada Vacations, and more.
In Canada, you can also earn Marriott Bonvoy from some credit cards:
It is generally more difficult to earn Marriott Bonvoy points than Aeroplan points. This makes the Marriott Bonvoy currency harder to get.
This promotion will therefore appeal at those who have Marriott Bonvoy points but find more interest in the Aeroplan program.
But remember: a hotel room can be shared by several travelers, which is not the case for an airplane seat! With 60,000 Marriott Bonvoy points, you could get up to many nights in certain hotels worldwide for an entire family! Or a few nights in many North American hotels.
Whereas with 30,000 Aeroplan points, you could get a round-trip economy class flight ticket to certain North American destinations.
