To the point Choose your Marriott Bonvoy benefits for 2023 as a Platinum Elite or Titanium Elite member today.

Marriott Bonvoy™ Annual Choice Benefits

Marriott Bonvoy™ offers Elite members of level Platinum, Titanium and Ambassador the opportunity to select benefits for the upcoming year.

These benefits are in addition to those automatically available such as complimentary breakfasts or upgrades. The deadline for choosing your benefits is January 7, 2024.

To achieve these status levels, you must have reached a minimum of 50 Elite-nights (Platinum) or 75 Elite-nights (Titanium and Ambassador) during the current year. However, you don’t need to have stayed that many nights:

For Platinum Elite members

As a Platinum Elite member, with at least50 eligible nights in the previous year, you can choose from several annual Marriott Bonvoy benefits:

  • Add five Elite night credits to your total balance for 2023.
  • Save 40% on a bed from your favorite Hotel Brand.
  • Gift Marriott Bonvoy™ Silver Elite Status to a family member, friend or colleague.
  • Donate US $100 to a charity foundation
  • Receive upgrades for five nights to be used for upgrades to premium suites and rooms
REMINDER

These are benefits for 2023, not 2024. So if you’re short of Elite nights to reach a higher status, it might be worth adding 5 nights to your 2023 night total! But hurry: you have until January 7, 2024 to do so.

What used to be known as the “suite upgrade” has changed its name to the “Nightly Upgrade Awards”, a term referring to a more general upgrade and not just for suites. All the details are in this article.

For Titanium Elite members

As a Titanium Elite member, with at least 75 eligible nights in the previous year, you can make a second choice among these annual Marriott Bonvoy benefits:

  • One Free Night Award with a redemption value up to 40,000 Points.
  • Gift Marriott Bonvoy™ Gold Elite status to a family member, friend or colleague.
  • Receive upgrades for five nights to be used for upgrades to premium suites and rooms
  • Save 40% on a bed from your favorite Hotel Brand.
  • Donate US $100 to a charity foundation
  • Add five Elite night credits to your total balance for 2023.
REMINDER

These are benefits for 2023, not 2024. On the other hand, if you choose the free night between January 1 and 7, 2024, the certificate will be valid until December 31, 2025 (instead of 2024).

Choose your benefits

To make your choice of benefits, you must log in to your Marriott Bonvoy account on this page before January 7, 2024. A popup will appear explaining how many benefits you can select.

Here is one for Titanium Elite members:

Please note that the following screenshots are from 2022, but the process has remained the same ever since.

You will then be asked to make your selection from the benefits offered depending on your status:

marriott bonvoy selection titanium

You have until January 7, 2024 to make your choice. Personally, I’ve decided to wait until January 1, 2024 to make my second choice (Titanium).

Indeed, I already have 13 suite upgrades in my Marriott Bonvoy™ account: there is no need to add more at this time.

Especially as I always find a way to negotiate an upgrade via the chat without using those credits!

The 5 Elite night credits can be useful for those close to achieving status this year. This will not be my case: thanks to my Canadian and American credit cards, I had 30 Elite nights as of January 1st. And I added enough nights during the double Elite nights promotion to reach the 75-night mark.

Analyze your needs before chasing a status:

Yes, a Marriott Bonvoy™ status (Platinum and above) offers many benefits. But does the investment of staying in hotels for up to 35 nights (18 in the current promotion) make sense if you are not a business traveller?
Wouldn’t it be better to pay for your breakfasts or get a nicer room on your next trip? And focus on getting points rather than status?

As for the second choice offered to Titanium and Ambassador Elite members: no hesitation for me. It will be the Free Night Award with a redemption value up to 40,000 Points.

Here is my choice made on January 1, 2024 as a Titanium member:

Indeed, the other choice is useless for the people around me who already have Gold Elite status by holding the Platinum Card® from American Express for example!

Here again, it’s best to make your choice between January 1 and January 7, 2024, knowing that the certificate will then be valid until December 31, 2025 (and not 2024 if chosen in 2023)!

Bottom Line

If you do not make a choice by January 7, 2024, you will automatically receive five-night upgrades to a suite or premium room for each of the Platinum, Titanium and Ambassador Elite benefits.
