Marriott Bonvoy offers Platinum, Titanium and Ambassador Elite members the opportunity to select benefits for the coming year.
These benefits are in addition to those automatically available, such as free breakfasts or upgrades. The deadline for choosing your benefits is February 1, 2025.
To achieve these status levels, you need to have stayed at least 50 Elite nights (Platinum) or 75 nights (Titanium and Ambassador) during the year. However, you don’t need to have stayed that many nights:

As a Platinum Elite member, with at least 50 eligible nights in the previous year, you can choose from several annual Marriott Bonvoy benefits:
These are benefits for 2024, not 2025. So, if you’re short of Elite nights to reach a higher status, it might be worth adding 5 nights to your 2024 night total! But hurry: you have until February 1, 2025 to do so.
What used to be known as the “suite upgrade” has changed its name to the “Nightly Upgrade Awards”, a term referring to a more general upgrade and not just for suites. All the details are in this article.
As a Titanium Elite member, with at least 75 eligible nights in the previous year, you can make a second choice among these annual Marriott Bonvoy benefits:
These are benefits for 2024, not 2025. However, for the free night, by choosing it between January 1 and February 1, 2025, the certificate will be valid until December 31, 2026 (instead of 2025).
To make your choice of benefits, you must log in to your Marriott Bonvoy account on this page before February 1, 2025. A popup will appear explaining how many benefits you can select.

You will then be asked to make your selection from the benefits offered depending on your status:
Those who have reached Titanium status will be able to choose a second benefit. The list includes the same options as for the first benefit, with the addition of these two options:
You have until February 1, 2025 to make your choice.
For Titanium members, it may be worth waiting until January 1, 2025 to make your second choice.
Take Jean-Maximilien, for example, who already has upgrades in his Marriott Bonvoy account, chosen as his first benefit. He felt there was no need to add any more at this time. Especially since it’s often possible to negotiate via chat to get an upgrade without using these credits!
And what about the 5 Elite nights? As for me, I reached Platinum status at the end of December 2024, so it was obvious that these credits would not allow me to reach Titanium status. As for Jean-Maximilien, he had 30 Elite nights at his disposal from January 1, thanks to his Canadian and American credit cards. And he added enough nights during the double Elite nights promotion to reach the 75-night mark.
Please note that even if the 5 Elite Nights are selected in January 2025, these credits only apply to the year 2024, and therefore cannot contribute to achieving status in 2025.
Analyze your needs before chasing a status:
Yes, Marriott Bonvoy status (Platinum or higher) offers you many advantages. But does the investment of staying in hotels for up to 35 nights (18 if you do so during the annual Elite double-night promotion ) make sense if you’re not a business traveler?Wouldn’t it be better to pay for breakfasts or treat yourself to a nicer room on future trips? And focus on getting points rather than status?
As for the second choice offered to Titanium and Ambassador members, Jean-Maximilien has no hesitation: it’s a free night worth up to 40,000 points.
It was an easy choice, considering that Gold Elite status is accessible by being a holder of the American Express Platinum Card® for example. Here again, it’s best to make your choice between January 1 and February 1, 2025, bearing in mind that this certificate will then be valid until December 31, 2026 (and not 2025 if chosen in 2024)!
As a Platinum member, I chose the 5 Nightly Upgrade Awards to a superior room. Once you’ve confirmed your choice, you can’t go back and change it.
If you don’t make a choice before February 1, 2025, you’ll automatically receive the 5 Nightly Upgrade Awards to a suite or premium room for each of the Platinum, Titanium and Ambassador Elite benefits.
