The World Elite card offer

The offer on the HSBC World Elite® Mastercard® will end on December 16, 2019, and the next one will be less interesting.

This credit card is particularly recommended for travellers as it does not charge any conversion fees for foreign currency transactions. That’s a 2.5% saving for each transaction. It’s a card we use on our world tour!

Besides, it offers other benefits such as a $100 annual travel credit, unlimited Wi-Fi access to Boingo and excellent insurance.

Here are the two offers depending on whether you live in Quebec or elsewhere in Canada.

For Quebec

If you are a resident of Quebec, you can get:

  • A welcome bonus of 20,000 points after first purchase ($100 in travel rewards)
  • 70,000 additional points if you keep your account open and in good standing for 90 days ($350 in travel rewards)

On the other hand, the annual fee is $149.

It’s a great offer for Quebec to get 90,000 points (or $450) without minimum expenses required during the first three months. And don’t forget the $100 Annual Travel Credit!

Outside Quebec

If you are not a resident of Quebec, you can get:

  • A welcome bonus of 20,000 points after first purchase ($100 in travel rewards)
  • Up to 9% rewards on all eligible travel purchases in the first 90 days, up to a maximum of 40,000 additional points ($200 in travel rewards)
  • A full annual fee rebate for the Primary Cardholder for the first year

Here you will get the first year free.

However, much of the additional welcome bonus will depend on your purchases in the first 3 months:

  • 18 points on every $1 of eligible travel purchases (up from 6 points)
  • 9 points on every $1 in other eligible purchases (up from 3 points)

For example, to earn a maximum of 40,000 points, you will need to spend $2,222 in travel purchases or $4,444 in everyday purchases.
