Two changes are affecting Aeroplan flight rewards with Emirates: a recent restriction on First Class, and the arrival of Premium Economy on July 21, 2026. Our complete guide already covers the point charts and destinations. Here, we look at who’s affected by these two changes, and how to react.
Emirates First Class becomes out of reach for two groups of travellers:
In practice, this restriction mostly affects occasional travellers who used their points for a First Class flight once in a while, without actively pursuing elite status. This group is now limited to Business and Economy on Emirates, unless they seriously aim for 35K.
The arrival of Premium Economy adds a fourth redeemable cabin on Emirates. According to Aeroplan, Emirates becomes the first partner in the program to offer flight rewards in all four cabins at once: Economy, Premium Economy, Business, and First.
