Rogers Red World Legend Mastercard: Everything You Need to Know

Rogers Red World Legend Mastercard: Everything You Need to Know
Share

On March 2, 2026, Rogers Bank and Mastercard officially unveiled the Rogers Red World LegendTM Mastercard, a first in Canada.

This premium metal card is positioned in the ultra-premium category, alongside Visa Infinite Privilege and American Express Platinum Cards.

For Canadians who travel frequently and use Rogers services, here’s what you need to know before applying.

A first in Canada: the World LegendTM tier

Until now, the Mastercard system was divided into three tiers: Standard, World, and World Elite. With the launch of the World LegendTM tier, Mastercard has created a fourth category reserved for the most exclusive cards.

The Rogers Red World LegendTM Mastercard is launched in conjunction with The Mastercard Collection, a range of global dining, entertainment, and travel benefits, now accessible to Mastercard World, World Elite, and World LegendTM cardholders.

Cash back and foreign exchange fees

The card offers 2% cash back worldwide, with no foreign transaction fees. This is a significant advantage: most Canadian cards charge 2.5% on foreign currency transactions. If you use your cash back for eligible purchases with Rogers, the 1.5x redemption bonus increases the value to 3%.

By combining cash back and savings on conversion fees, you can get up to 5.5% value on your foreign currency spending redeemed with Rogers. You can also apply your cash back directly to your travel purchases in foreign currency and recover the equivalent of 4.5% on these expenses. Cash back is also directly redeemable on Expedia.

Key benefits included

Here are the key benefits of the card, according to Rogers Bank:

  • 6 Plaza Premium Lounge passes ($432 value) + access to The Mastercard Collection for global airport VIP lounges;
  • $200 annual entertainment credit applicable to Rogers Xfinity, Sportsnet+, and other eligible services;
  • 10 days of Roam Like Home access offered annually for eligible Rogers mobile customers ($180 value);
  • Soho Friends membership included ($175 value) for bookings at exceptional restaurants;
  • Metal card, no foreign transaction fees.

For eligible Rogers customers, the total estimated annual reward value reaches $2,900.

Eligibility Requirements

This card is for a specific financial profile. To apply, you must meet the following conditions:

  • Minimum personal annual income of $150,000, or minimum household income of $200,000;
  • Credit approval by Rogers Bank;
  • Residence outside Quebec (the card is not available in Quebec for now).

Interest Rates and Fees

Here are the main rates applicable to the card:

  • Annual fee: $495 (primary cardholder) and $95 per authorized user;
  • Purchase rate: 20.99% to 25.99% (minimum 21.99% as of August 2026);
  • Cash advance and balance transfer rate: 22.99% to 27.99%.

Exclusive World LegendTM experiences

Mastercard leverages unique experiences to differentiate this tier. Cardholders have the chance to win a trip to the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, England, as part of the partnership with the F1 McLaren Mastercard team, including round-trip flights to London, accommodation, and high-end culinary experiences.

programme Priceless au McLaren Technology Centre FR

Additional local benefits will also be integrated into The Mastercard Collection during 2026.

Key advantage: no spending cap

As of August 4, 2026, Rogers Bank is introducing annual caps of $61,000 on the accelerated cash back rates of three of its four Rogers Red Mastercard cards. The World Legend card is the only one exempt. If you spend more than $61,000 per year, this is the only Rogers card that maintains your 2% rate without restriction.

Our opinion: who is this card for?

The Rogers Red World LegendMD Mastercard is suitable for frequent international travelers who are well-integrated into the Rogers ecosystem. Whether you regularly spend abroad, already have a Rogers/Fido plan, or use your rebates to pay your telecom bills, the card can pay for itself in the first year.

However, the card offers no guaranteed welcome bonus. For a $495 annual fee, you get a contest as an entry incentive, not a defined bonus on your initial spending. This is a deliberate choice by Rogers, but it’s worth considering in your calculations.

If you are not a Rogers customer, the 1.5% rate on regular purchases does not justify a $495 annual fee. There are other options with lounge access and no foreign transaction fees, such as the Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite +* Card and the Scotiabank Passport® Visa Infinite Privilege* Card.

Conclusion

The Rogers Red World LegendMD Mastercard inaugurates Mastercard’s very first World LegendMD tier in Canada. For an active Rogers customer who travels internationally regularly, the proposition holds up. Between the 2% cash back with no foreign transaction fees, the six Plaza Premium Lounge accesses, the $200 credit, and the 10 Roam Like Home days, it is possible to make the $495 annual fee worthwhile in the first year.

That said, the minimum income required ($150,000 personal or $200,000 household) targets a specific profile. And without an active Rogers service, the 1.5% rate does not justify the fee. Our advice: calculate your actual usage before applying, and consider that you will have to close your current Rogers card to get it.

Rogers World Legend Card – Frequently Asked Questions

What is the annual fee for the Rogers Red World Legend Mastercard?

The annual fee is $495 for the primary cardholder, and $95 for each authorized user. This is one of the most expensive cards in Canada, in the same category as the American Express Platinum Card or the TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Privilege Card.

What is the minimum income to get the Rogers World Legend card?

The card requires a minimum personal annual income of $150,000, or a minimum household income of $200,000. Eligibility remains subject to Rogers Bank credit approval.

Is the Rogers Red World Legend Mastercard available in Quebec?

No, the card is not available in Quebec for now. Rogers Bank has not specified a launch date for the province. Quebec residents interested in a premium card can consult the best credit cards available on Milesopedia.

Do you need to be a Rogers customer to benefit from the best cash back rates?

Yes. To get the 2% rate on all purchases, you must be a subscriber to an eligible Rogers, Fido, Shaw, or Comwave service. Without this condition, the rate drops to 1.5%, which considerably reduces the card’s value compared to competitors in the same annual fee bracket.

Can I have the World Legend in addition to my current Rogers card?

No. Rogers Bank only allows you to hold one Rogers card at a time. If you already have a Rogers card (Rogers Red Mastercard, World Elite, etc.), you must request a product change to the World Legend. You cannot open a second Rogers account simultaneously.

Is the World Legend card subject to a spending cap?

No. As of August 2026, Rogers Bank is introducing annual caps of $61,000 on the accelerated rates of three of its four Rogers Red Mastercard cards. The World Legend is the only one exempt: your 2% cash back applies without a spending limit.

When can I apply for the Rogers World Legend card?

Applications have been open since the official launch on March 2, 2026. Existing Rogers Bank customers who wish to migrate to this product can apply for a product change via the Rogers Bank website.

The Marriott Bonvoy® American Express®* Card is the best credit card in Canada for free hotel nights.

New Cardmembers can earn up to 110,000 Marriott Bonvoy® points with the current offer:

  • Earn 80,000 points after you spend $6,000 on your Card in your first 6 months of Cardmembership.
  • Plus, earn 30,000 points by making a purchase during your 15th month of Cardmembership.

This offer ends on September 22, 2026. The annual fee is $120, and there is no annual fee on Additional Cards, so you can add a partner or a family member at no extra cost.

Every year after your first Card anniversary, you receive an Annual Free Night Award good for a redemption of up to 35,000 points at eligible hotels and resorts worldwide. At a valuation of 0.9 cents per Marriott Bonvoy point, that certificate is worth roughly $315, which on its own more than covers the $120 annual fee. That is the main reason to keep this Card year after year instead of cancelling it.

To get the most out of the certificate, aim it at a night that would otherwise price close to the 35,000 point ceiling.

The Card also gives you 15 Elite Night Credits each calendar year and automatic Marriott Bonvoy Silver Elite status. Those credits count toward the next Elite tier, so you begin every year 15 nights ahead of where you would otherwise start.

You move up to Gold Elite status automatically when you reach $30,000 in purchases on the Card in a year, or when you combine 10 qualifying paid nights within one calendar year with the 15 Elite Night Credits from your Card.

Marriott Bonvoy points are generally valued at 0.9 cents each. On that basis, the 110,000 point welcome offer is worth about $990, and an Annual Free Night Award used at its full 35,000 point ceiling is worth about $315.

Marriott Bonvoy points pull their weight on free nights rather than on gift cards or merchandise, which is why this Card should be judged on the hotel stays it produces.

You earn 5 points per dollar on eligible purchases at participating Marriott Bonvoy hotels and 2 points per dollar on all other purchases. Points can be redeemed for free nights with no blackout dates at more than 7,000 hotels around the world.

The Card carries a solid package of coverages: $500,000 travel accident insurance, flight delay, baggage delay, lost or stolen baggage and hotel or motel burglary at $500 each, car rental theft and damage up to $85,000 for rentals of up to 48 days, Purchase Protection for 90 days and a one year Extended Warranty.

Two things to plan around: the 2.5% foreign transaction fee on purchases made in a foreign currency, and the 21.99% purchase interest rate, which makes this a Card to pay in full every month. Like all American Express Canada Cards, no minimum income is published for this Card, and you can see whether you would be approved before you apply, with no impact on your credit score.
