On March 2, 2026, Rogers Bank and Mastercard officially unveiled the Rogers Red World LegendTM Mastercard, a first in Canada.
This premium metal card is positioned in the ultra-premium category, alongside Visa Infinite Privilege and American Express Platinum Cards.
For Canadians who travel frequently and use Rogers services, here’s what you need to know before applying.
Until now, the Mastercard system was divided into three tiers: Standard, World, and World Elite. With the launch of the World LegendTM tier, Mastercard has created a fourth category reserved for the most exclusive cards.
The Rogers Red World LegendTM Mastercard is launched in conjunction with The Mastercard Collection, a range of global dining, entertainment, and travel benefits, now accessible to Mastercard World, World Elite, and World LegendTM cardholders.
The card offers 2% cash back worldwide, with no foreign transaction fees. This is a significant advantage: most Canadian cards charge 2.5% on foreign currency transactions. If you use your cash back for eligible purchases with Rogers, the 1.5x redemption bonus increases the value to 3%.
By combining cash back and savings on conversion fees, you can get up to 5.5% value on your foreign currency spending redeemed with Rogers. You can also apply your cash back directly to your travel purchases in foreign currency and recover the equivalent of 4.5% on these expenses. Cash back is also directly redeemable on Expedia.
Here are the key benefits of the card, according to Rogers Bank:
For eligible Rogers customers, the total estimated annual reward value reaches $2,900.
This card is for a specific financial profile. To apply, you must meet the following conditions:
Here are the main rates applicable to the card:
Mastercard leverages unique experiences to differentiate this tier. Cardholders have the chance to win a trip to the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, England, as part of the partnership with the F1 McLaren Mastercard team, including round-trip flights to London, accommodation, and high-end culinary experiences.
Additional local benefits will also be integrated into The Mastercard Collection during 2026.
As of August 4, 2026, Rogers Bank is introducing annual caps of $61,000 on the accelerated cash back rates of three of its four Rogers Red Mastercard cards. The World Legend card is the only one exempt. If you spend more than $61,000 per year, this is the only Rogers card that maintains your 2% rate without restriction.
The Rogers Red World LegendMD Mastercard is suitable for frequent international travelers who are well-integrated into the Rogers ecosystem. Whether you regularly spend abroad, already have a Rogers/Fido plan, or use your rebates to pay your telecom bills, the card can pay for itself in the first year.
However, the card offers no guaranteed welcome bonus. For a $495 annual fee, you get a contest as an entry incentive, not a defined bonus on your initial spending. This is a deliberate choice by Rogers, but it’s worth considering in your calculations.
If you are not a Rogers customer, the 1.5% rate on regular purchases does not justify a $495 annual fee. There are other options with lounge access and no foreign transaction fees, such as the Scotiabank Passport™ Visa Infinite+ Card and the Scotiabank Passport® Visa Infinite Privilege* Card.
The Rogers Red World LegendMD Mastercard inaugurates Mastercard’s very first World LegendMD tier in Canada. For an active Rogers customer who travels internationally regularly, the proposition holds up. Between the 2% cash back with no foreign transaction fees, the six Plaza Premium Lounge accesses, the $200 credit, and the 10 Roam Like Home days, it is possible to make the $495 annual fee worthwhile in the first year.
That said, the minimum income required ($150,000 personal or $200,000 household) targets a specific profile. And without an active Rogers service, the 1.5% rate does not justify the fee. Our advice: calculate your actual usage before applying, and consider that you will have to close your current Rogers card to get it.
