Visa Infinite Privilege Benefits in Canada: Full Guide

Q: What is the most valuable Visa Infinite Privilege benefit for a frequent traveller?

Free airport lounge access through DragonPass , with 6 visits a year at more than 1,200 lounges, is the most tangible benefit. At US$32 per visit (the price of a paid entry) , those 6 visits alone are worth US$192 a year . Depending on your card, you can add: The $250 annual travel credit on the Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite Privilege* Card The $200 annual credit on the BMO eclipse Visa Infinite Privilege* Card Free first checked bags for you and up to 8 companions on the TD® Aeroplan® Visa Infinite Privilege* Credit Card If you take 4 round trips a year, the Scotiabank Passport card shows how this adds up: 8 of its 10 lounge visits (US$256 at the paid-entry rate) plus the $250 travel credit roughly offset its $599 annual fee. Each benefit stays with its own card, so they only stack if you hold several of these cards.

Q: Can your guests use your free lounge visits?

Yes. Under the Visa Airport Companion program terms , your free visits cover you and the people travelling with you, so two of you use 2 visits per lounge stop. Beyond your 6 visits (10 with the Scotiabank Passport), each entry costs US$32 per person. Your balance resets every year on your enrolment anniversary.

A Visa Infinite Privilege card gives you 6 airport lounge visits a year (10 with the Scotiabank Passport^® Visa Infinite Privilege* Card), priority security lanes at three Canadian airports and a 24/7 concierge. Our take: with its $250 travel credit, the Passport card roughly pays for its $599 annual fee once you take 4 round trips a year.

To be eligible for the 30,000 bonus Scene+ points (the « 30,000 bonus points »), you must charge eligible purchases totaling at least $3,000 to your new account during the first three months following the account opening date. To be eligible for the additional 30,000 bonus Scene+ points (the « additional 30,000 bonus points »), you must charge $20,000 in eligible purchases to your new account during the first six months following the account opening date. To be eligible for the additional 20,000 bonus Scene+ points (the « additional 20,000 bonus points »), you must charge at least one (1) eligible purchase to your new account during the 14th month following the month the account was opened. Eligible purchases mean purchases, less refunds, returns, and any other similar credits, and exclude payments, cash advances (including balance transfers and quasi-cash transactions), interest charges, and card fees and other charges.

Fulfillment of the annual bonus reward: Bonus points will be credited to the Scene+ account within approximately eight weeks after you become eligible for a bonus, provided the account is open and in good standing. In the case of a joint account with a primary borrower and a co-borrower, bonus points will be credited as follows: (i) the 30,000 bonus points and the additional 30,000 bonus points will be credited to the Scene+ account linked to the account of the borrower who made the transaction that reached the eligible purchase threshold ($3,000 or $20,000) within the appropriate timeframe (the first three months or the first six months), and (ii) the additional 20,000 bonus points will be credited to the Scene+ account linked to the account of the borrower who made the first transaction considered an eligible purchase during the 14th month following the month the account was opened. If an additional cardholder makes the transaction that reaches the eligible purchase threshold for the 30,000 bonus points or the additional 30,000 bonus points, or makes the first transaction to earn the additional 20,000 bonus points, the bonus points will be credited to the Scene+ account linked to the primary borrower’s account. Points can be transferred between the Scene+ accounts of a primary borrower, co-borrower, or additional cardholder by contacting Scene+. An account is in good standing if it is not past due, there is no credit limit overage, and the cardholder(s) have complied with the terms of the Revolving Credit Agreement that applies to the account. All other program conditions continue to apply during the offer period. The offer may be modified, cancelled, or extended at any time without notice, and cannot be combined with any other offer.

Eligibility and exclusions: You are not eligible for the Offer if you are currently a primary or secondary cardholder of a Scotiabank personal credit card or if you have been within the past two years, including if you transfer your balance from an existing Scotiabank personal credit card account, and if you are a Scotiabank employee. Subject to the exclusions mentioned above, Scotiabank small business credit cardholders are eligible for this Offer.

Rates and fees: The current annual fees are $599 for the primary card and $199 for each additional card (including those issued to joint account holders and additional cardholders).

Fuel purchases made outside the Eligible Provinces are not eligible for this offer.

To receive the additional fuel discount, customers must pay with their linked Eligible Card at the time of purchase.

The additional fuel discount is in addition to the fuel savings available through the Shell Fuel Benefits Program and may be combined with other eligible fuel discounts, rewards programs, and promotional fuel offers unless otherwise stated in the applicable offer terms and conditions.

The additional fuel discount is available on up to 1,000 litres of eligible fuel purchases per calendar month for each Eligible Card. The 1,000-litre limit resets at the beginning of each calendar month.

1 This offer only applies to new applications for an RBC Avion Visa Infinite Privilege credit card received between “August 13, 2026” and “November 25, 2026” (“Offer Period”) and approved by Royal Bank of Canada (“Royal Bank”) subject to the conditions below. Additional cardholders(s) (co-applicant and authorized user(s)) on the RBC Avion Visa Infinite Privilege account, as well as existing cardholders on any RBC Royal Bank personal credit card account transferring to an RBC Avion Visa Infinite Privilege account during the Offer Period, are not eligible for the offer.

35,000 welcome Avion points (“Welcome Points”) will appear on your monthly credit card statement within sixty (60) days after your application has been approved, provided that your RBC Avion Visa Infinite Privilege credit card account (“Credit Card Account”) remains open and in good standing at the time the Welcome points are credited to your account, “good standing” meaning that your Credit Card Account must not be past due for more than two (2) consecutive credit card account statement periods, closed, charged off or in credit revoked status.

You will receive 20,000 bonus Avion points (“Bonus Points”) if a total of $5,000 or more (“Qualifying Transaction Amount”) in qualifying net purchases and/or pre-authorized bill payment transactions (“Qualifying Transactions”) are posted to your Credit Card Account within the first six (6) months from your Credit Card Account opening date (“Period”). The Bonus Points will appear on your monthly credit card statement within sixty (60) days after you reach $5,000 in Qualifying Transactions, provided your Credit Card Account remains open and in good standing at the time the Bonus Points are credited to your account.

Qualifying Transactions exclude cash advances (including balance transfers, cash-like transactions and bill payments that are not pre-authorized charges that you set up with a merchant), interest charges and fees, and credits for returns and adjustments posted to your Credit Card account during the Period will reduce the amount of your Qualifying Transactions. The Qualifying Transaction Amount is based on the transaction posting date of each Qualifying Transaction, not the transaction date. This means that transactions that take place prior to the last day of the Period will not be considered for the Qualifying Transaction Amount if they have not yet been posted or processed by the merchant, the payment network (Visa) or Royal Bank by the last day of the Period.

45,000 additional Avion points (“Anniversary Points”) will appear on your monthly credit card statement within twelve (12) to sixteen (16) weeks after the one- year anniversary of your account opening, provided that your account remains open and in good standing at the time the Anniversary Points are credited to your account.

If you close or change your Credit Card Account for another type of RBC Royal Bank credit card before the Welcome Points, the Bonus Points and/or the Anniversary Points have been credited to your account, you may lose the benefit of this offer. ²² The discount of up to 20% applies to the base rate only (time and mileage) (“discount”) and is offered at participating corporate Hertz locations in Canada and the United States. The discount excludes taxes, tax recovery, fees, surcharges and the cost of any optional service, such as a full tank of gas. To obtain the discount, you must enter the first six digits of your eligible RBC Avion card in the CDP number field at the time of booking.

Hertz, not Royal Bank of Canada, is responsible for the sales and refund terms and conditions that apply to the discount. For full terms and conditions, visit hertz.ca.

²³A primary cardholder, a co-applicant and any authorized user (each an “eligible credit cardholder”) have access to airport lounges participating in the Visa Airport Companion program (“Program”), provided and managed by DragonPass International Ltd. (“DragonPass”).

Each cardholder must register individually for this benefit using the Visa Airport Companion app (available as a free download) or the Program website (visaairportcompanion.ca/fr) using their eligible credit card. During registration, the cardholder must enter their name (first and last name) as it appears on their passport (or on any other government-issued identification used for travel in Canada), as it will be verified upon entry to airport lounges.

Once registered, the cardholder will be entitled to six (6) free airport lounge accesses per membership year; free accesses may be used by the cardholder for themselves and for accompanying guests. Visits beyond the free accesses are subject to a fee of US $32 (subject to change) per person. Applicable access fees will be charged to the eligible credit card associated with the cardholder’s Program membership card.

Membership includes access to any airport lounge participating in the Program. After registering for the Program, the cardholder can access airport lounges by presenting one of the following three (3) items: i) their eligible credit card, ii) their digital membership card and QR code from the app or Program website, or iii) their printed or emailed e-certificate containing the membership card and QR code.

Program membership will be suspended if the eligible credit card is closed or inactive, is no longer linked to the Program, or is no longer a product participating in the Program. It is the cardholder’s responsibility to report any changes to the information of their eligible credit card linked to the Program. If the cardholder uses a printed or emailed e-certificate to access a lounge, they must obtain a new e-certificate if changes are made to their eligible credit card information. Unless suspended or cancelled, Program membership and any free accesses included are automatically renewed each year on the anniversary date (i.e., the date the cardholder registered for the Program). Program membership may be suspended if the eligible credit card is no longer in good standing.

Cardholders can consult the app or Program website for the complete list of participating airport lounges, as well as the facilities offered, hours of operation and any restrictions. Registered cardholders are subject to the terms and conditions of the worldwide airport lounge access program and the terms of use of each participating lounge operator visited, which are available in the app or Program website. The Program terms and conditions will be presented to cardholders during registration and will also be emailed to them after registration.

In addition to providing them with access to airport lounges, enrollment in the program will allow cardholders to enjoy additional benefits and offers. For the complete list of benefits and offers and to obtain more information, holders of an eligible credit card can consult the program app or website. Cardholders who participate in the program or take advantage of the benefits or offers presented as part of the program are subject to the terms and conditions applicable to the benefit or offer in question, as stipulated in the program app and website.

Cardholders who participate in the program are subject to DragonPass’s terms of use, terms of service, and privacy policy, as well as Visa’s privacy statement. By enrolling in the program and taking advantage of the benefits and offers presented as part of the program, the cardholder acknowledges that DragonPass may share their program-related data with Visa or Royal Bank of Canada (« RBC ») for program administration purposes, and that Visa and RBC may process this data in accordance with their privacy policies. The services and benefits offered as part of the program are provided by DragonPass and third-party providers. Neither Visa nor RBC is responsible for any claims or damages arising from participation in the program. Visa may modify or cancel this program at any time without notice.

Bottom Line

Visa Infinite Privilege credit cards are aimed at a high-income audience who appreciate the benefits of travel: access to airport lounges, priority queuing and more.

If you want a more flexible annual credit, look at the BMO eclipse Visa Infinite Privilege* card. Its annual fee is $599, but it’s the only one that offers a $200 annual credit applicable to any purchase (not just travel). This virtually brings its net cost down to $399.

And in the first year, you could benefit from this credit twice (the first time when you apply and the second time from the following January 1st).

Alternatively, if you’d prefer to take advantage of the benefits of Air Canada, choose the TD^® Aeroplan^® Visa Infinite Privilege* Credit Card (especially for its NEXUS credit, which applies to both the primary and additional cardholders). Or the Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite Privilege Card for 10 airport lounge passes, a $250 travel credit and a credit card with no conversion fees for foreign currency transactions.

Finally, if you want flexibility in how you use your points, opt for the RBC Avion Visa Infinite Privilege Card. You can transfer your points to several airline partners, such as British Airways Executive Club, WestJet Rewards or Asia Miles Cathay Pacific, or use them within the Avion Rewards program.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the benefits of Visa Infinite Privilege credit cards?

Visa Infinite Privilege credit cards offer travel benefits such as access to VIP lounges, priority security lanes and hotel advantages via the Visa Infinite Luxury Hotel Collection.

Visa Infinite Privilege cardholders also have access to other benefits throughout the year: concierge service, exclusive offers at vineyards, golf membership, etc.

How do I register my Visa Infinite Privilege credit card?

Airport priority lanes only require you to present your card. For lounges, golf and hotels, enroll your card on each program's site: Visa Airport Companion, Access Rewards and the Visa Infinite Luxury Hotel Collection.

How do I contact the Visa Infinite Privilege Concierge Service?

You can contact your Visa Infinite Privilege credit card concierge service at 1 855 822-1240 (toll-free from Canada and the U.S.) or 1 303 967-1036 (collect outside Canada and the U.S.).

What income do you need to apply for a Visa Infinite Privilege credit card?

You generally need a personal income of $150,000 or a household income of $200,000. The RBC Avion Visa Infinite Privilege Card asks for $200,000 either way, while Scotiabank also accepts $400,000 in assets under management for its Passport card. A strong relationship with your bank can also help you.

What is the most valuable Visa Infinite Privilege benefit for a frequent traveller?

Free airport lounge access through DragonPass, with 6 visits a year at more than 1,200 lounges, is the most tangible benefit. At US$32 per visit (the price of a paid entry), those 6 visits alone are worth US$192 a year.

Depending on your card, you can add:

The $250 annual travel credit on the Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite Privilege* Card
The $200 annual credit on the BMO eclipse Visa Infinite Privilege* Card
Free first checked bags for you and up to 8 companions on the TD^® Aeroplan^® Visa Infinite Privilege* Credit Card

If you take 4 round trips a year, the Scotiabank Passport card shows how this adds up: 8 of its 10 lounge visits (US$256 at the paid-entry rate) plus the $250 travel credit roughly offset its $599 annual fee. Each benefit stays with its own card, so they only stack if you hold several of these cards.

What is the difference between a Visa Infinite and a Visa Infinite Privilege card?

Most Visa Infinite cards require $60,000 in personal income or $100,000 in household income, compared with $150,000 or $200,000 for a Visa Infinite Privilege card. In return, Privilege gives you 6 lounge visits a year through the Visa Airport Companion program (10 with the Scotiabank Passport) and priority security lanes at Montréal-Trudeau, Ottawa and Toronto Billy Bishop. The concierge, the Luxury Hotel Collection and the wine country experiences are shared by both tiers.

How much does a Visa Infinite Privilege card cost per year?

Annual fees range from $240 to $599. The Wealthsimple Visa Infinite Privilege* Card costs $20 a month, or $240 a year, and becomes free if you hold more than $100,000 in assets with Wealthsimple. At the other end, the Visa Infinite Privilege cards from BMO, Scotiabank and TD cost you $599 a year.

Can your guests use your free lounge visits?

Yes. Under the Visa Airport Companion program terms, your free visits cover you and the people travelling with you, so two of you use 2 visits per lounge stop. Beyond your 6 visits (10 with the Scotiabank Passport), each entry costs US$32 per person. Your balance resets every year on your enrolment anniversary.
