How to Book Porter Airlines Using Atmos Rewards Points

Airline partnerships offer tons of interesting and valuable redemption options, and the Porter Airlines/Alaska Airlines partnership is no different.

Thanks to the partnership between these two airlines, you can redeem your Alaska Airlines Atmos Rewards points for Porter Airlines flights across their entire network (as well as for flights with Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and other compelling airline partners).

In this article, we’ll go over how to book a Porter Airlines award flight with your Atmos Rewards points and explore what sort of value you might be able to enjoy.

Booking Porter Airlines – The Basics

Porter Airlines (and its loyalty program VIPorter) is one of Alaska Airlines’ partnered airlines, despite not being part of the larger Oneworld alliance.

This means that you can use your Alaska Airlines Atmos Rewards points to book award flights on Porter Airlines’ network.

The pricing for these award flights uses a “starting at” price structure based on the Atmos Rewards’ “Americas” partner award chart seen below. In this chart, you’ll see redemption costs based on the distance flown for as low as 4,500 Atmos Rewards points.

To get an idea of what kind of redemptions are available through this airline partnership, let’s take a look at how to go about booking a Porter Airlines flight and what sort prices you can expect to see.

How to book Porter Airlines flights with Atmos Rewards points

Booking a Porter Airlines flight with your Atmos Rewards points is super straightforward.

To get started, just log in to your Alaska Airlines Atmos Rewards account and navigate to the Book Flight option.

From here, you’ll want to click the “Use points” checkbox, and search as usual by filling in your departure airport, arrival airport, and preferred travel date, and then clicking “Search flights.”

As long as you’ve chosen a route and date that Porter Airlines flies, you’ll see award flight options for this airline. You may also see flights for Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and all of their other partner airlines in your search results.

Now all you have to do is choose your preferred flight (noting the prices in Atmos points + taxes and fees), book, and redeem.

Example Redemptions with Atmos Points

To make sure you get the most from your Atmos Rewards points, let’s look at a few example redemptions to see what type of value to expect.

Example 1 – Great Value

In this first example, we looked up a one-way flight from Montreal (YUL) to Halifax (YHZ) in June.

To book the flight with Porter’s Standard Economy fare, it would cost you 4,500 Atmos Rewards points plus $47 in taxes/fees. With the cash fare coming in at $296, this gives you a redemption value of an impressive 5.5 cents per point!

If you wanted to enjoy a little bit of extra comfort on your flight, you could level up to the PorterReserve fare and redeem 6,000 Atmos Rewards points plus $47 in taxes/fees for a flight with a cash value of $318.

In this case, you’re getting 5.3 cents per Atmos Rewards point, which is still well above the minimum of 2 cent per point that you should usually aim for when redeeming. This makes both this redemption and the Standard Economy redemption excellent value.

Example 2 – Good Value

In this second example, we searched for one-way flights between Toronto (YYZ) and Nassau, Bahamas (NAS) in April.

With these redemptions, we’re once again seeing good value available when you redeem your Atmos Rewards points for Porter Airlines flights.

In our research, we found a Standard Economy fare option for 7,500 Atmos Rewards points, compared to the cash fare of $196. This gives you a potential redemption value of 2.61 cents per point.

Comparatively, you could up the legroom and book the PorterReserve fare for 10,000 Atmos Rewards points. The cash fare for this flight is $346, giving you a redemption value of 3.46 cents per point, which, although not as good as Example 1, still represents strong value for your Atmos Rewards points.

Example 3 – Bad Value

In our final example, we sought out a bad-value redemption as a reminder that it’s always important to do the math when redeeming your hard-earned points.

Here, we found a one-way flight from Vancouver (YVR) to Liberia, Costa Rica (LIR), that connects through Toronto (YYZ).

For a Standard Economy fare, this flight costs $513 cash or 50,000 Atmos Rewards points plus $85 in taxes/fees, giving you a value of 1.03 cents per point.

For a PorterReserve fare, you could pay $697 cash or a whopping 125,000 Atmos Rewards points plus $85 taxes/fees. This redemption would give you the unimpressive (and definitely not worth it) value of 0.56 cents per point.

How to Earn Atmos Points

In Canada, it’s fairly difficult to earn Atmos Rewards points since there’s no longer a co-branded credit card ever since MBNA got rid of their Alaska Airlines card in 2023.
