Mar 19 – VIPorter redemption
To the point Porter Airlines and its VIPorter program now allow you to earn and redeem points on Air Transat and Alaska Airlines.

VIPorter Points Exchange with Air Transat and Alaska Airlines

For the first time in the history of the VIPorter program, members can now use their points for flights operated by partner airlines. The initial launch includes two major partners:

  • Air Transat: Result of the joint venture between Porter and the Quebec carrier
  • Alaska Airlines: Extended business partnership launched in December 2023

Partner Network and Number of VIPorter Points Required

This expansion of the program provides VIPorter members with a wide range of options. In total, more than 2,000 new destinations will be available to members using VIPorter points:

  • Air Transat: 1,270 routes to 56 destinations in 28 countries in North America, Europe, South America, Africa and the Caribbean:
    • Europe: Starting from 25,000 VIPorter points
    • Caribbean: Starting from 21,500 VIPorter points
  • Alaska Airlines: 1020 connections in 11 Canadian cities:
    • United States: Starting from 9,500 VIPorter points

In addition, Porter Airlines is continuously adding new routes in North America, with several set to begin in the summer of 2025.

Porter is now positioning itself as a more serious competitor to established programs such as Aeroplan Air Canada and WestJet Rewards. What’s more, with the arrival of BMO co-branded credit cards, the VIPorter program becomes even more attractive to Canadian travellers.

How to Take Advantage of These New Options

Reservations can be made exclusively on flyporter.com or via the Porter contact center at 1-888-619-8622.

It is important to note that this feature is not yet available on Porter’s mobile app or via the Air Transat and Alaska Airlines booking channels.

Bottom Line

This expansion is excellent news for VIPorter points holders, particularly for trips to Europe and sunny destinations. Especially since Air Transat is currently developing its own loyalty program, which is expected to be unveiled in the coming year.

With the arrival of the BMO VIPorter Mastercard line of credit cards, opportunities for accumulation and redemption will be even more attractive.

This announcement confirms Porter’s ambition to develop far beyond its initial positioning as a niche regional carrier, to become a more significant player on the Canadian airline scene.

We’ll be keeping a close eye on future program developments and the benefits of the new BMO VIPorter Mastercard credit cards!
