Triangle (Canadian Tire) × WestJet: How to Maximize This Partnership
Loading article…
WestJet and Triangle Rewards, Canadian Tire’s loyalty program, have launched a new partnership that lets members double-dip on their points earning.
With this new partnership, you can earn WestJet Rewards points when you shop at Canadian Tire and its partnered merchants, and you can also earn Canadian Tire money when you spend on eligible expenses with WestJet.
This alliance brings together two top Canadian companies, so let’s explore how this partnership works and what you can do to maximize your earnings and savings.
As of October 2026, once your Triangle Rewards and WestJet Rewards accounts are linked, you earn 1 WestJet point per $2 at Canadian Tire (2 points with a WestJet RBC card) and 0.4% back in CT Money on WestJet purchases (1% with a Triangle credit card). According to WestJet, 120 WestJet points convert to $1 in CT Money (2,400-point minimum).
How Does the WestJet and Triangle Partnership Work?
The partnership between WestJet and Triangle Rewards is straightforward and can be easily enjoyed with just a couple of steps.
Link your accounts
To take advantage of the benefits of the WestJet and Triangle Rewards partnership, the first thing you need to do is link your accounts from both programs.
To connect your accounts, simply sign in to either your Triangle Rewards account or your WestJet Rewards account and navigate to the « Offers » or « Partners » sections.
Within this section, you’ll find information about the partnership, and you’ll see a button that says « Link Accounts. » Once you click this button, you’ll be asked to sign in to the other program’s account and agree to some information sharing between the programs.
Once you’ve agreed, your accounts will be immediately linked, and you’ll be ready to double-up your points-earning!
Earn WestJet and Triangle points
With your WestJet Rewards and Triangle Rewards accounts linked, you can now earn WestJet points at Canadian Tire and its partners, and you can earn CT Money when you spend with WestJet, as follows:
- Earn 1 WestJet point per $2 of eligible pre-tax spend at Canadian Tire and merchant partners, on top of the CT Money you already earn. Points are credited within 48 hours of your purchase.
- Earn 0.4% in CT Money on eligible WestJet purchases related to your own personal travel, on top of any WestJet points you earn. Important: this applies only to the portion of the booking attributable to your own travel. If you book for multiple travellers, you only earn CT Money on your own share of the cost, not the full booking amount. CT Money is credited within 30 days of your flight segment completion.
If you pay with a Triangle credit card, your CT Money earn rate increases to 1% (0.4% base + 0.6% Credit Card Bonus). Note that the 0.6% Credit Card Bonus may appear in your account up to 30 days after the 0.4% base earn.
To access these perks when shopping at Canadian Tire and eligible merchants, just scan your Triangle membership card (or input the number manually), and you’ll earn CT Money as usual, PLUS the bonus WestJet points.
For your WestJet purchases, your bonus CT Money will be calculated and deposited automatically as long as you’re logged in to your WestJet Rewards member account when you make your purchase.
How to Maximize the WestJet/Canadian Tire Partnership
For those looking to maximize the WestJet/Canadian Tire partnership, the first thing to do is to make sure to link your accounts as soon as possible.
Since it’s free to link, there’s no reason not to—in fact, not linking your accounts means that you’re leaving potential rewards unearned with every purchase!
Next, to really get the most out of this Canadian alliance, you can take advantage of some additional ways to build up your points balance quickly.
Shop at all merchant partners
One way to get the most from this valuable partnership is to shop at all of the Triangle Rewards partnered merchants.
Canadian Tire and Triangle Rewards are partnered with the following merchants, so there are lots of ways to earn both CT Money and extra WestJet points:
- Mark’s
- L’Équipeur
- SportChek
- Party City
- Sports Rousseau
- Hockey Experts
- Atmosphere
- L’Entrepôt du Hockey
- Sports Experts (select locations)
These stores offer items ranging from sports equipment and outdoor gear to clothing and party supplies, giving you tons of opportunities to stack your earnings.
Use a co-branded credit card
Another fantastic way to maximize this partnership is to make purchases with a co-branded credit card from one of the two programs.
Depending on whether you’d rather focus on earning WestJet points or CT Money, you can choose from the following WestJet Rewards and Triangle Rewards credit cards:
With the WestJet Rewards cards, members who have linked their accounts will earn the standard 1 WestJet point per $2 spent at participating stores AND and an additional 1 WestJet point per $2 spent. This gives you a total of 2 WestJet points per $2 of eligible pre-tax spend.
For Triangle Reward credit card holders, you’ll earn an additional 0.6% in CT Money on top of the 0.4% base rate on the value of your eligible WestJet purchases. This means that by linking your accounts and using one of the two Triangle credit cards, you can earn 1% back in CT Money on your next WestJet flight.
These credit cards are also great because (depending on the card) they often come with valuable welcome offers and benefits like free checked bags, savings on gas, and more.
| Credit card | Annual fee | Welcome offer | |
|---|---|---|---|
| $0 | |||
| $0 | |||
| $39 | |||
| $139 | |||
| $175 |
Watch for redemption promos and offers
Yet another way to take full advantage of this partnership is to explore and use the promotions and offers provided through both programs.
For example, Triangle Rewards has weekly offers that you can activate to enjoy bonus points or higher earning rates.
Both programs may also offer limited-time promotions for earning and redeeming. Given this, it’s a good idea to check in with the programs regularly, as timing your purchases and redemptions can really help you squeeze even more value from your rewards account balances.
Convert your points
Linked members can convert WestJet points into CT Money at a rate of 120 WestJet points = $1 CT Money, with a minimum of 2,400 WestJet points per conversion.
Since WestJet points are worth 1 cent each when redeemed for travel (100 points = $1), converting to CT Money at 120:1 gives you slightly less value per point, approximately 0.83 cents. This option makes the most sense if you have points sitting idle with no upcoming travel plans.
Who Should Use This Partnership?
The WestJet Rewards and Triangle Rewards partnership is valuable to anyone who shops at Canadian Tire and partners or who likes free/discounted travel.
Since it’s free to join both programs and link your accounts, there’s no reason not to join and take advantage of the chance to earn rewards with both programs at the same time.
Whether you’re a fan of WestJet (or just saving on travel in general), or you often find yourself stocking up at Canadian Tire, Mark’s, Atmosphere, or other partnered stores, the alliance between these two Canadian reward programs is nothing but beneficial.
Bottom Line
WestJet and Triangle Rewards have joined together to give their loyal fans the ability to double-dip on their rewards earnings.
By linking your accounts from both programs, you can earn CT Money on your eligible WestJet purchases and WestJet points on your spending at Canadian Tire and partners, making this partnership a guaranteed hit.
Add in the bonus rates and perks that come with the available co-branded credit cards, and you’ll be able to enjoy even more savings on travel, merchandise, and more.

Can I redeem my WestJet points at Canadian Tire?
No. WestJet points cannot be used directly at Canadian Tire or any other Triangle Rewards participating store. Note that once converted, this transaction cannot be reversed, cancelled, or converted back.

Unlinking your Triangle Rewards and WestJet Rewards accounts does not affect your existing balances — your CT Money and WestJet points remain in their respective accounts. However, once unlinked, you will no longer earn WestJet points at Canadian Tire and partner stores, or CT Money on WestJet purchases. Make sure any pending rewards have been processed and credited to your accounts before unlinking, as in-progress transactions may not qualify after the unlink request is submitted.
