To the point Rogers Bank launches the first World Legend Mastercard in Canada. $495 fee, 2% cash back everywhere, lounge access: our full analysis.

On March 2, 2026, Rogers Bank and Mastercard made a major announcement: they officially unveiled the Rogers Red World LegendTM Mastercard, a Canadian first.

This new premium metal card is positioned directly in the ultra-high-end category, alongside Visa Infinite Privilege and American Express Platinum cards. For Canadians who travel frequently and use Rogers services, this announcement is worth a closer look.

A world first: what is the Mastercard World LegendTM tier?

Until now, the Mastercard system was divided into three tiers: Standard, World, and World Elite. With the launch of the World LegendTM tier, Mastercard has created a fourth category reserved for the most exclusive cards.

The Rogers Red World LegendTM Mastercard is being launched alongside The Mastercard Collection, a range of global benefits in dining, entertainment, and travel, now accessible to Mastercard World, World Elite, and World LegendTM cardholders.

Benefits of the Rogers Red World LegendTM Mastercard

Cash back and foreign exchange fees

The card offers 2% cash back worldwide with no foreign transaction fees—a significant advantage considering most Canadian cards charge 2.5% on foreign currency transactions. If you redeem your rewards for eligible Rogers purchases, you receive a 1.5x redemption bonus, bringing the value up to 3%, which is well above average.

Considering that some of these cash back rewards come from foreign currency transactions, you can achieve a value of up to 5.5% by avoiding conversion fees.

Alternatively, you can also apply your cash back to travel transactions made in foreign currencies and obtain a 2% reward value. You will therefore have saved 4.5% on these expenses. As a cardholder, you can also redeem your cash back directly on Expedia.

Please note: To obtain the 2% rate, you must have an eligible Rogers, Fido, Shaw, or Comwave service. Otherwise, the rate drops to 1.5%, making the card significantly less attractive for non-Rogers customers.

Key benefits included

Here are the key benefits of the card, according to Rogers Bank:

  • 6 Plaza Premium Lounge passes ($432 value) + access to The Mastercard Collection for global airport VIP lounges;
  • $200 annual entertainment credit applicable to Rogers Xfinity, Sportsnet+, and other eligible services;
  • 10 days of Roam Like Home access per year for eligible Rogers mobile customers ($180 value);
  • Soho Friends membership included ($175 value) for bookings at exceptional restaurants;
  • Metal card, no foreign transaction fees.

For eligible Rogers customers, the total estimated annual reward value reaches $2,900.

Exclusive World LegendTM experiences

Beyond the numbers, Mastercard is focusing heavily on unique experiences to differentiate this tier. Cardholders have the chance to win a trip to the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, England, as part of the partnership with the McLaren Mastercard F1 team, including round-trip flights to London, accommodation, and high-end dining experiences. You have until May 29 to submit the entry form.

Additional local benefits will also be integrated into The Mastercard Collection during 2026.

Our opinion: who is this card for?

The card is particularly suitable for frequent international travelers who are well-established within the Rogers network. If you regularly spend abroad, already have a Rogers/Fido plan, and use your rewards to pay your telecom bills, the math can be favorable.

On the other hand, if you are not a Rogers customer, the 1.5% rate on regular purchases does not justify the $495 annual fee. Compared to other travel cards in the same price range, Rogers remains advantageous for international spending, provided you are disciplined and treat the rewards as a dedicated travel fund. There are other alternatives with airport lounge access and no foreign transaction fees, such as the Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite Card and the Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite Privilege Card.

Milesopedia Tip: This card is not currently available in Quebec. Current Rogers Bank customers can request a product change at the same time.

Bottom Line

The Rogers Red World LegendTM Mastercard is a new addition to the premium credit card landscape in Canada. By introducing the very first Mastercard World LegendTM tier on Canadian soil, Rogers Bank is reaching an entirely new clientele.

For an active Rogers customer who travels internationally regularly, the proposition is solid. Between the 2% cash back with no foreign transaction fees, six Plaza Premium Lounge passes, the $200 entertainment credit, and 10 days of free Roam Like Home access, it is possible to offset the $495 annual fee in the first year, especially considering the total value estimated at $2,900 by Rogers.

That said, this card is not for everyone. If you are not a Rogers customer or do not travel frequently, other more accessible options are worth exploring before committing. Our advice is simple: calculate your actual usage before applying for a premium card, and ensure the benefits match your lifestyle.
