Start-up company Alltheway, launched by Émilie Gazeau and backed by some of the biggest players in the tourism sector, including the Accor Group, Air France, RATP Group, and Aéroports de Paris, is a hot topic for many Parisians. The young start-up offers a service not offered by many: home luggage delivery. For the time being, the service is only available for Air France flights departing from Paris-Charles de Gaulle. However, the start-up recently announced the success of their first round of funding, raising one million euros, which means the service is likely to open up to passengers from other airlines in the near future. An overview of a service that will soon be indispensable.
Founded in 2023, Alltheway is a new French start-up that dreams of breaking airport codes. It offers travelers the possibility of entrusting their luggage for collection at destination, thus speeding up their journey through the airport.
The service was officially launched last year on June 5th. Since then, Alltheway has worked closely with renowned partners such as Accor and Air France-KLM to develop and perfect their business model. Focusing on their technological expertise, Alltheway concentrates on developing a highly functional platform, while the logistics side is handled in collaboration with specialist companies.
Until now, the service has only been available via the Alltheway platform application for passengers travelling with Air France-KLM. This offer will extend to airlines that are part of the SkyTeam alliance and SkyPriority membership holders between now and the Paris Olympics in 2024, following which, Alltheway plans to expand its reach by making its service available to all airlines. The start-up plans to integrate its service into airline reservation platforms, enabling travelers to select this option directly when booking their flights.
To take advantage of this practical service, travelers can book a 10-minute slot on the Alltheway website, between 30 hours and 4 hours before the departure of an Air France flight. They are free to choose the time and the check-in point (City Hub) where they wish to drop off their luggage in Paris. Once a slot has been booked, it can be changed up to 2 hours before the drop-off time.
Alltheway currently has a number of check-in points in Paris:
Between now and the 2024 Olympic Games, 20 other Parisian hotels in different areas of the capital, such as Bastille, Gare de Lyon, Montmartre and Batignolles, will join the service, as well as certain Viparis venues during major international events, such as Paris Expo Porte de Versailles, the Palais des Congrès, Parc des Expositions Villepinte, and Le Bourget.
At the agreed time, passengers must go to the selected City Hub and bring their luggage, ID and boarding pass previously obtained on the Air France website or app. Luggage is then weighed, checked and tagged at the Alltheway terminal.
Thanks to the Alltheway app, travelers can track their luggage in real time throughout the process, eliminating any risk of loss. For each piece of baggage handled, they receive three notifications: confirmation of check-in at the Alltheway City Hub, notification of loading on the airport shuttle, and confirmation that their baggage has been taken over by the airport’s baggage sorting system, guaranteeing a safe journey to their plane.
One of Alltheway’s main assets is its competitive pricing policy. For just 25 euros, travelers can take advantage of the delivery service for their first piece of luggage. And for added convenience, the start-up offers a rate of 10 euros per additional baggage item.
However, it is crucial to bear in mind the regulations in force concerning maximum baggage weight. In order to comply with airline guidelines, it is essential that baggage is packed within the authorized limit. Should baggage exceed this limit, Alltheway regrets not being able to check it in. In these situations, travelers will have to go to the airport themselves to check in their baggage in accordance with the established rules.
Alltheway also applies strict criteria to suitcase dimensions. Oversized luggage is not handled by the service, and Alltheway does not offer a pet service. Travelers with four-legged companions will therefore have to consider other transportation solutions.
With its ambition to make travel easier, Alltheway has the potential to become a must-have for discerning travelers looking for quality service and a hassle-free journey. By teaming up with prestigious partners such as Air France and Accor, planning ambitious expansion, the start-up is demonstrating its unwavering determination to shape the future of travel. Because Alltheway isn’t just tackling logistical challenges, it’s also looking to the future, with plans to open no fewer than 5,200 new hubs worldwide in the run-up to the 2024 Olympics and Rugby World Cup.
