To the point Read our summary of the Eva Air flight from Toronto to Taipei in Business Class with Aeroplan miles!

Hello from Fukuoka, a city in southern Japan. I arrived yesterday from Montreal, I will do a more detailed flight-report but here is a taste of the long-haul flight.

The ticket was booked with Aeroplan miles, 150,000 miles for a trip in Business Class. I also took advantage of Aeroplan’s generous policy with a 3-day stopover in Fukuoka, my final destination being Seoul. On the way back, I will stop for 13 hours in Los Angeles before coming back to Montreal.

I’ll start with the bad news: the lounge experience at the Toronto airport. The flight leaving very early in the morning (1:45 am) the Air Canada lounge is closed. Eva Air uses the Plaza Premium lounge, a Priority Pass lounge that is also open to American Express Platinum cardholders.

The lounge in the international area is being renovated. It is thus a privatized part of the terminal that serves as a lounge. When I say “privatized part” it is a big word. We are talking about a few chairs in a corner of the terminal surrounded by a cordon with tables that act as a buffet. Here are two photos that illustrate the state of non-comfort. No electrical outlet, no dedicated wifi, no shower, no toilet. Do you like camping? You will not be disoriented.

The last flight of the evening is boarded in accordance with the priorities. The Business Class cabin contains 4 seats per row (1-2-1). The seats are comfortable with enough storage space and power or USB outlets.

The comfort kit is one of the famous Rimowa’s, and Eva Air is one of the few airlines that distributes pyjamas for its passengers in Business Class. A wink to Jean-Maximilien’s selfie in his Cathay Pacific First Class pajamas.

The meals are also a real plus, we had pre-ordered ours to have the lobster.

Being a 15 hours flight, we took advantage of the seat to sleep, no mattress, just a quilted blanket with a very comfortable comforter.

The morning meal, also pre-ordered: a congee.

And we arrive at 5am in Taipei by going directly to the Infinity Lounge to take a shower and have a coffee before our flight to Fukuoka.

Bottom line

A first beautiful experience with Eva Air. I have not mentioned the crew but there too we were not disappointed. In the end, Eva Air is one of the best ways to reach Asia with your Aeroplan miles.
