End of mandatory vaccination on planes and trains

It’s confirmed! Effective June 20, 2022, the federal government will end the requirement for travellers to show proof of vaccination against COVID-19. This will be valid for:

  • domestic air travel
  • outbound international flights
  • and train travel

This obligation was in effect since October 30, 2021. However, the government reserves the right to reinstate it, should the health situation worsen.

However, it will still be necessary to show proof of vaccination when returning home (or for foreigners coming to Canada). In the absence of vaccination, a quarantine must be respected.

The use of ArriveCan and the wearing of masks are still in effect.

Withdrawal of sanitary measures

With summer upon us and the high demand for travel, the airport situation at Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver is frustrating. The Government of Canada’s actions are creating surcharge workloads for staff.

The announcement of this withdrawal of measure comes after the announcement of the United States that it is ending the mandatory COVID-19 test to enter their country. In addition, the government had suspended mandatory COVID-19 testing at Canadian airports as of last Saturday.

We had given you some tips to facilitate your next trip to one of these airports.

Conclusion

This is certainly good news for the travel and tourism industry! Life has resumed at the airports and travellers are eager to get out of their homes after more than 2 years of restrictions.
