Effective June 15, Hawaii will ease some travel restrictions.
Currently, the percentage of the Hawaiian population fully vaccinated with 2 doses is almost 55%.
When the rate is 60%, Hawaiians traveling between islands will be able to avoid quarantine and the need for PCR testing, thanks to their proof of vaccination.
When the rate reaches 70%, all restrictions will be completely lifted for all travellers, whether they come from other states in the United States or from another country. No date has been set yet.
In fact, the state of Hawaii is holding a contest to encourage residents to get vaccinated. The lucky vaccinees will win a prize of 100,000 Hawaiian Miles from Hawaiian Airlines, gift cards to various local restaurants and businesses, a package for a trip to Las Vegas or round-trip tickets with Alaska Airlines.
This upcoming end to travel restrictions is great news for those with an eye on this destination. Especially since Air Canada announced last month its new direct flights to Hawaii from Montreal, Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver.
