Air Canada will change its reservation system and it will have an impact on Aeroplan.
From November 18th at 8 p.m. (ET) until midday On November 19th, aeroplan.com website and the Aeroplan App will be unavailable.
Also, the Aeroplan Contact Centre will not be able to make any changes or bookings during this period.
With the introduction of this new system, Aeroplan expects its Contact Centre to be overloaded in the days following the transition. Aeroplan encourages its members to use Aeroplan.com website.
To facilitate the transition, Aeroplan has decided to temporarily reduce the fee for refunding a booking online to $75 (instead of $150 through the Aeroplan center) from November 15th 2019 to January 31st 2020.
Air Canada is making significant changes to modernize its reservation system. Let’s hope that more flexibility will be given to Aeroplan members, especially for complex itinerary online booking, going beyond the three routes offered by the “multi-city” function.
However, according to the last news, although it was possible to book advanced routings over the phone by feeding the agent with a list of desired flights, it would seem that this new system no longer allows that. From now on, the agent would only have access to what the system will give to him.
Before we jump to conclusions, let’s wait for the setting up of that new system next week.
But if you have an advanced itinerary in mind, book it before November 18th!
