The 10 Best New Restaurants for 2024 were selected by culinary journalist and author Tara O’Brady.
Montreal’s Sabayon restaurant topped this prestigious list. Pastry chef Patrice Demers and sommelier Marie-Josée Beaudoin are the proud owners of this 14-seat establishment.
Don’t hesitate to come and taste their signature dish, designated dish of the year, featuring grilled oyster mushrooms on mashed potatoes, with a caramelized Arlette wafer and a cloud of sabayon sauce.
In 2nd place in Air Canada’s 23rd annual Best New Canadian Restaurant ranking is Toronto’s Mhel, owned by Seung-min Yi and Young Hoon Ji. This restaurant offers Korean-Japanese dishes, including the dessert of the year: a Japanese version of crème caramel, made using Ontario maple syrup.
In 3rd place, Édith Foliot and Didier Lorti’s Maison de Soma in Mont-Tremblant took the honours. This restaurant offers the cocktail of the year, Le Somananas: an explosion of flavours mixing pineapple weed with Rosemont whisky, amaretto from Distillerie Mariana and Bourgoin Verjus.
