American Express Canada offers an Annual Dining Credit of $200 to holders of the American Express Platinum Card®.
This Annual Dining Credit is only available with the personal version of the card. The business version, the Business Platinum Card® from American Express, offers a $120 credit for mobile services instead.
The $200 Annual Dining Credit is a benefit available since September 26, 2023 for holders of the American Express Platinum Card®.
Each calendar year, on January 1st, holders of the American Express Platinum Card® will have an Annual Dining Credit of $200, which must be used at participating restaurants in Canada.
Only the primary American Express Platinum Card® cardmember has access to the $200 Annual Dining Credit. Additional Cardmembers are not entitled to the $200 Annual Dining Credit.
To use the $200 Annual Dining Credit, you’ll need to log in to your online account for your American Express Platinum Card® or via the American Express Canada mobile application.
Then enroll in the American Express $200 Annual Dining Credit online offer in the same way as with other American Express online offers. In subsequent years, you won’t have to sign up for the offer again to benefit from the $200 Annual Dining Credit: enrolment will be automatic following this initial enrolment.

Once you’ve registered for the online offer, you can use your $200 Annual Dining Credit at any participating restaurant. Simply pay your bill with the American Express Platinum Card®.
In addition to the Annual Dining Credit, you’ll earn 2 points per dollar spent at the restaurant (the American Express Platinum Card® is one of the best credit cards for restaurants).
Please note that the bill must be $200 or more (including taxes and tip). The $200 Annual Dining Credit can only be used once (and not spread over several bills).
You should also know that if you don’t use your Annual Dining Credit by December 31, it will be lost. You’ll get a new one on January 1.
At the time of writing this article, there are 234 restaurants eligible for the $200 Annual Dining Credit. Most of these restaurants are located in major Canadian cities such as Montreal, Toronto or Vancouver.

To use the $200 Annual Dining Credit, log in to your American Express Platinum Card® online account or via the American Express Canada mobile application and register for the “$200 Annual Dining Credit” online offer. After the initial enrolment, subsequent years’ enrolment will be automatic.

According to the terms and conditions, no. American Express states in its terms and conditions that the purchase of gift cards at eligible restaurants does not qualify for the annual meal credit.
However, if you ever think you won’t be able to use your annual meal credit during the year, you can always try to buy a gift card at an eligible restaurant. You may get the $200 credit on your account. You can then use the restaurant gift card whenever you like.
