What is the RBC Avion and Hopper partnership?

RBC is partnering with Hopper Technology Solutions (HTS) to offer a new travel booking portal to its Avion members. This portal will allow booking of flights, hotels, and car rentals using Hopper's technology.

Hopper is a technology company founded in Montreal in 2007. It is known for its travel booking application that uses artificial intelligence to predict flight and hotel prices. Its B2B division, HTS, provides this technology to partners such as Capital One, Air Canada, and now RBC.

Will I be able to use my Avion points on the Hopper portal?

Yes. RBC has confirmed that members will be able to use their Avion points to pay for their bookings through the new portal. Details on the exact redemption value of points have not yet been communicated.

When will the new RBC-Hopper portal be available?

Which RBC cards provide access to the Hopper portal?

Will Hopper's price freeze be available through RBC?

This is one of the outstanding questions. Price freeze is one of Hopper's flagship products, already available at Capital One in the United States. RBC has not yet confirmed whether this feature will be included in the Canadian portal.

How does this partnership differ from the one with Capital One?

Capital One Travel, in the United States, is entirely powered by Hopper Technology Solutions. The RBC-Hopper partnership in Canada is based on the same HTS technology. The differences will relate to the flexibility products offered, the currency (Canadian dollar), and integration with Avion points rather than Capital One miles.

Do I need to do anything to access the new portal?

No. If you already hold an RBC Avion card, you don't need to do anything. RBC will communicate directly with its members when the new portal launches. In the meantime, continue accumulating your Avion points as usual.
