How Many Aeroplan Points Do You Need for an Affordable All-Inclusive Vacation?

Here is the fixed chart for discounts when redeeming Aeroplan points with Air Canada Vacations, starting from as few as 5,000 Aeroplan points:

  • 5,000 Aeroplan points = $50
  • 10,000 Aeroplan points = $100
  • 25,000 Aeroplan points = $250
  • 50,000 Aeroplan points = $500
  • 100,000 Aeroplan points = $1,000
  • 150,000 Aeroplan points = $1,500
  • 200,000 Aeroplan points = $2,000
  • 250,000 Aeroplan points = $2,500, etc.

Starting at 50,000 Aeroplan points, you can redeem your points in increments of 50,000. In addition, the maximum redemption is 500,000 Aeroplan points per booking, for a discount of $5,000.

For example, if you have 145,000 Aeroplan points, you can redeem a maximum of 100,000 points ($1,000). To redeem $1,500, you would need to earn an additional 5,000 points to reach the next redemption level of 150,000 Aeroplan points.

How to Book an All-Inclusive Vacation with Aeroplan Points

On the Air Canada Vacations homepage, sign in with your Aeroplan account credentials using the Sign In section at the top right corner.

Prices with Aeroplan may vary according to the date and time of the search. The rates presented in this article represent the prices found at the time of writing.

Then enter the desired destination and dates and launch the search by clicking on the Search button.

At this stage, use the dropdown menu in the right-hand column to select how many Aeroplan points you want to use to lower the cost of your all-inclusive vacation.

Then all you have to do is continue your transaction. At checkout, you can pay for your Air Canada Vacations all-inclusive package with a Visa, Mastercard, American Express, or an Air Canada gift card.

Example: Earn Aeroplan Points with an Air Canada Vacations All-Inclusive Package

First, when booking with Air Canada Vacations, it’s very important to add the Aeroplan membership number for each traveller in your booking. If you’ve forgotten, you can do so up to 31 days before departure.

An Aeroplan member can redeem their Aeroplan points to pay for your Air Canada Vacations package and earn Aeroplan points at the same time.

That’s because redeeming Aeroplan points is considered a payment method. This increases the value of your Aeroplan points, since with all these bonuses, you’ll earn even more points in return!

Base Aeroplan Points

Earn Aeroplan points on the flight portion of your trip when you travel with Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge, or Air Canada Jetz.

The number of points earned for your travel package depends on the fare option chosen and the distance travelled.

Example: If your vacation package includes a round-trip Flex class flight with Air Canada from Montreal to Cancun International Airport in Mexico, the miles flown will be 3,684 (1,842 miles x 2). You’ll earn 3,684 Aeroplan points (100% of the 3,684 miles flown).

Bonus Aeroplan Points

Air Canada Vacations offers bonus points on several packages of at least 7 days. For example, on select packages, you’ll earn the following Aeroplan points in your account:

  • Up to 20,000 additional Aeroplan points per member on select vacation packages in the Caribbean, Mexico, and the United States;
  • Up to 12,000 additional Aeroplan points per member on packages to Las Vegas;
  • Up to 4,000 additional Aeroplan points per member on tours in Europe and worldwide;
  • Up to 8,000 additional Aeroplan points on select Flight & Hotel packages in Europe;
    Up to 2,000 additional Aeroplan points on select Flight & Hotel packages to Whistler, Kamloops, Calgary, and St. John’s in Canada.

This is even available for children aged 13 and over. Young Aeroplan members aged 2 to 12 will receive 50% of the additional points compared to older members.

Aeroplan points will be credited 6 to 8 weeks after your trip is completed.

Example: At the time of writing, this hotel in Riviera Maya offers 8,000 additional Aeroplan points for each eligible traveller aged 13 and over who is an Aeroplan member!

Aeroplan Points Earned with an Aeroplan Credit Card

On top of all this, if you pay for your Air Canada Vacations all-inclusive package with an Aeroplan credit card, you’ll earn even more Aeroplan points!

The TD® Aeroplan® Visa Infinite* Card earns 1.5 points per dollar on eligible Air Canada Vacations purchases.

Example: If you pay for your $5,000 all-inclusive Air Canada Vacations package to Cancun with this card, you’ll earn 7,500 Aeroplan points ($5,000 x 1.5)!

With a premium card like the American Express® Aeroplan®* Reserve Card, you’ll earn 3 points per dollar on Air Canada Vacations purchases.

An All-Inclusive Trip with Air Canada Vacations and Aeroplan Elite Status

Air Canada Vacations offers:

  • Status Qualifying Dollars (SQD);
  • Status Qualifying Miles (SQM);
  • and Status Qualification Segments (SQS) on vacation packages.

Status Qualifying Dollars (SQD) are earned at 25% of the total cost per Aeroplan member for the eligible vacation package, including all taxes and fees. An eligible vacation package includes a flight, or a flight and cruise, with travel completed by the Aeroplan member.

Status Qualifying Miles (SQM) are earned according to the following chart:

Starting January 1, 2026, Status Qualifying Credits (SQC) will replace the current system of Status Qualifying Miles (SQM) and Status Qualifying Segments (SQS).

Members will earn 1 SQC for every $1 spent on Air Canada Vacations packages. Earn SQC on the total value of an Air Canada Vacations package for each Aeroplan member, including taxes and fees, regardless of the class of service booked.

For example, for a $5,000 package, you will earn 5,000 SQC.

With your all-inclusive Air Canada Vacations package, Status Qualifying Segments (SQS) will be calculated based on the number of flights taken on Air Canada, if applicable.

To take the example of a $5,000 all-inclusive vacation package to Cancun in Flex class with Air Canada Vacations, you’ll get:
