On April 25, 2026, Scotiabank will become the first Canadian institution to launch cards bearing the Visa Infinite+ designation. Specifically, the Scotiabank Passport™ Visa Infinite* Card and the Scotia Momentum Visa Infinite Card will be renamed Scotia Passport Visa Infinite+ and Scotia Momentum Visa Infinite+, respectively.
This change is not just a branding exercise. It comes with a tangible benefit: 10 GB of free GigSky mobile data per year, in addition to unlimited access to Travel Essentials. The partnership between Visa and GigSky, which we detailed in our comprehensive guide to GigSky eSIM with Visa, takes on a new dimension here.
The Visa Infinite+ tier is positioned between Visa Infinite and Visa Infinite Privilege in the Visa card hierarchy in Canada. In practice, this new level allows Visa to offer additional benefits — particularly in mobile connectivity — without requiring the high annual fees of a Visa Infinite Privilege card.
For current holders of Scotiabank’s Passport and Momentum cards, the transition happens automatically. No application to complete, no card number change. Annual fees, interest rates, and insurance coverage remain identical.
The partnership between Visa and GigSky has existed for several months. Until now, Visa Infinite cards provided 1 GB of free data per year. With the Visa Infinite+ tier, Scotiabank significantly enhances this offer.
The 10 GB global mobile data plan is valid for 15 consecutive days. It renews each year, as long as your account is active and in good standing. This plan covers over 200 countries via the GigSky network.
In addition, cardholders retain the standard 1 GB plan (15 days) already offered to Visa Infinite cards. You therefore have 11 GB of free data in total per year.
Travel Essentials is a GigSky service that provides access to certain essential travel applications, even without an active data plan. This service is designed for low data consumption uses.
For more data-intensive uses, you can activate your 10 GB plan or purchase an additional plan directly in the GigSky app.
Two Scotiabank cards are moving to the Visa Infinite+ tier on April 25, 2026:
The Scotiabank Passport™ Visa Infinite* Card becomes the Scotia Passport Visa Infinite+. This card remains linked to the Scene+ program and retains its Scene+ points rewards structure. Earning, transfers to airline partners, and existing travel benefits remain unchanged.
This is a card we recommend having if you travel abroad because it charges no foreign transaction fees. This represents a saving of 2.5%.
The Scotia Momentum Visa Infinite Card becomes the Scotia Momentum Visa Infinite+. The associated cash back program remains unchanged. Only the card name is updated in the cash back program terms.
This is a card we recommend having if you pay your bills with Chexy (Rent, municipal taxes, income taxes, etc.) as it offers you 4% cash back on recurring payments.
Scotiabank specifies that this migration is primarily a name change accompanied by an additional benefit. Here is the complete summary.
We covered the partnership between Visa and GigSky in detail in our guide to getting a free GigSky eSIM with Visa. This partnership offers benefits to all Visa cardholders in Canada, depending on the card tier.
GigSky stands out from its competitors through several practical features:
Mastercard offers a similar agreement with the eSIM provider Flexiroam. However, with the addition of the Visa Infinite+ tier and its 10 GB of free data, Visa takes a significant lead in travel connectivity.
The procedure remains the same as described in our GigSky tutorial. Here are the key steps:
If you already hold the Scotiabank Passport™ Visa Infinite* Card or the Scotia Momentum Visa Infinite Card, the transition is seamless. On April 25, 2026, your account automatically changes name. You will receive a replacement card bearing the Visa Infinite+ designation in the following months.
In the meantime, your current card continues to function normally. No action is required on your part. Balance transfers, SelectPay plans, and promotional offers currently on your account are not affected.
For Passport cardholders, Scene+ points and all terms of the Scene+ program remain identical. Only the card name will be updated in the program terms.
The arrival of the Scotia Visa Infinite+ tier in Canada marks an interesting turning point. With 10 GB of free GigSky data and unlimited access to Travel Essentials, Scotiabank offers a tangible travel benefit that adds to the existing benefits of its cards—all without an increase in annual fees.
