Welcome Offer

The new WestJet RBC® World Elite Mastercard for Business has announced an inaugural welcome offer of 35,000 WestJet points, which will be awarded after your first card purchase.

Keep in mind that this initial purchase does need to be made on the primary card, and that secondary cards are not eligible for additional welcome offers.

The 35,000 WestJet points have a value of $350, and they will be deposited into your personal WestJet account.

Earning WestJet Points

The WestJet RBC® World Elite Mastercard for Business earns WestJet points (formerly WestJet dollars) at the following rates:

  • Earn 3 WestJet points for every $1 spent on WestJet flights and WestJet Vacations packages*
  • Earn 3 WestJet points for every $1 spent on telecommunications, shipping, and electronics purchases
  • Earn 1.5 WestJet points for every $1 spent on everything else

Plus, all WestJet points earned by secondary cardholders will also be automatically added to your account.

*You also earn additional WestJet points based on your WestJet Rewards tier status when you purchase flights and vacations.

Since the WestJet RBC® World Elite Mastercard for Business gives you automatic WestJet Silver status for the first year, you can earn up to 6 (total) WestJet points per $1 spent on WestJet flights and vacations (that’s 3 points per $1 spent from your credit card and 3 points per $1 spent from your tier status).

Check out our guide to learn more about WestJet Tier Status and the associated earning rates and rewards.

Redeeming WestJet Points

WestJet points can be redeemed for WestJet flights and WestJet Vacations and Sunwing vacation packages, whether you’re travelling within the country or to a beautiful sun destination.

When redeeming, your points can cover the full cost of the flight/vacation package, including taxes, fees, and surcharges, and they can also be used to cover seat selection, checked baggage, cabin upgrade fees, and more.

100 WestJet points = $1 for base fare travel costs, which is the most valuable way to use your points.

If you don’t have any upcoming trips in your calendar, you can also choose to redeem your WestJet points for merchandise, gift cards, and more through the WestJet Rewards eStore. The value of each WestJet point will vary when redeeming through the eStore, but it does tend to be lower than the above rate.

Annual Fee

  • Primary cardholder: $175
  • Additional cardholders: $75 (maximum of 9 additional cards)

Travel Perks and Benefits

Given that this credit card is co-branded with an airline, it’s no surprise to see some solid travel perks.

The WestJet RBC® World Elite Mastercard for Business comes with the following travel-focused benefits:

WestJet Silver status

Shortly after being approved for your new card, you’ll automatically receive WestJet Silver status until December 31 of the following year. This status tier comes with following:

  • Six WestJet lounge vouchers
  • Priority security, check-in, boarding, and baggage
  • Two free checked bags for you and up to 8 guests travelling on the same reservation
  • Complimentary cabin upgrades when available, advanced seat selection vouchers, and more.

You can hang on to your WestJet Silver status for each subsequent year by spending at least $30,000 combined on the card/supplementary cards each year.

Complimentary enrollment in the WestJet Biz Program

This complimentary membership gives you discounts on all domestic, transborder, and transatlantic routes (up to 15% off to start with Tier 1 membership), and access to WestJet’s online travel tool to help keep you and your company’s travel plans organized.

Your membership is valid until December 31 of the following calendar year.

Complimentary DragonPass membership

As a cardholder, you’ll enjoy a complimentary DragonPass membership, giving you access to 1,300+ airport lounges around the world.

However, the card benefits do not include any free passes, so you’ll still need to pay the lounge entrance fee which is usually $32 USD per person.

Status Lift

Status Lift helps you earn WestJet tier status faster, and can even let you earn Gold or Platinum elite status without ever flying.

With the WestJet RBC® World Elite Mastercard for Business, you get $200 in tier qualifying spend for every $5,000 charged to your account.

The WestJet RBC® World Elite Mastercard for Business comes with the following travel insurance:

  • Trip cancellation or interruption
  • Emergency medical
  • Auto rental loss or damage
